A particularly mysterious natural environment

Maotai Town is located in the east bank of Chishui River at the west of renhuai city 13km, in the valley of Chishui River, with low terrain. The strata in Maotai Town are composed of sedimentary rocks, which are purple conglomerate, fine sandstone and red gravelly soil rocks. This kind of soil is generally about 50 cm thick and has moderate acid and alkali. The content of gravel and sand in the soil is high, and the water permeability is good. When groundwater and surface water pass through the red soil layer, various trace elements beneficial to human body are dissolved and filtered layer by layer to form clear spring water.

The climate is warm in winter and hot in summer with little rain. The annual average temperature is 17.4℃, the highest temperature in summer is 40℃, and the hot season lasts for half a year. The hot summer, little wind and high temperature make the microbial community easy to grow here, and it is not easy to be scraped off, which is very conducive to the habitat and reproduction of microorganisms brewing Moutai, and participates in the brewing process of Moutai in large quantities. Known as the "land of geomantic omen" for brewing fine wine, practice has proved that Moutai cannot be separated from Maotai Town.
