" It was this ancient post road that reached the three provinces that brought prosperity to Zhoutian in the Ming and Qing Dynasties for more than 500 years, cultivated a large number of Hakka wealthy businessmen and nurtured splendid Hakka culture. There is a saying that in ancient times, all the dignitaries who passed by Sunday did not dismount and walk, because judging from the bearing of the buildings in the village, it must be an extraordinary place.
According to the records of the local Wang family tree, the ancient houses in this area were first built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. Since then, there have been 28 ancient houses, and the latest one was built in Xianfeng period of Qing Dynasty, spanning more than 300 years. Among many enclosed houses, Paradise Bay enclosed house is the square enclosed house with the largest area and the highest architectural artistic value. Built in Jiaqing 19 (18 14) in Qing Dynasty, it covers an area of 10 mu, and belongs to masonry civil structure. Residential design has four entrances and four compartments, eight halls and twelve wells, and 50 rooms, with reasonable structure and beautiful shape. Every paddock is built on the mountain, and it is still magnificent after hundreds of years of wind and rain. They have different styles from design and construction to interior decoration, and they are all the same without exception, which fully embodies the unique wisdom of the builders at that time.
In addition to square enclosed houses, there are many ancient buildings on Sunday, including schools, tea kiosks, inns, medicine warehouses, waterwheels and oil mills, temples, etc., and there are 20 scenic spots. Provincial and municipal experts said that this ancient building complex is rare in the province because of its large scale and good preservation. It is a "living specimen" reflecting the architectural characteristics of Hakka dwellings in the south of the Yangtze River, which has high research value.
