Designed by Mr. Bruner. Two years later, it was adopted as a symbol by Singapore Tourism Board, and it has been used until 1997. During this period, Merlion has become the representative of Singapore. Merlion statue is located on the bank of Singapore River in the city, which is the symbol and symbol of Singapore. The first Merlion statue was made of new concrete by the late local famous craftsman Lin Lang, with a height of 8.6 meters and a weight of 70 tons. Another 2-meter-high and 3-ton little Merlion statue was also completed. On September 1972, these two statues officially settled in Merlion Park, which is located on the seaside bridge. The opening ceremony was presided over by then Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. To commemorate this great event, a bronze medal was specially made, which read: "Merlion is a symbol of Singapore's hospitality". In April 2002, the two statues were moved to the reclamation area 20 meters away from/kloc-0, so as to be closer to the new estuary of Singapore after reclamation. The Tourism Bureau has also renovated them. The relocation and renovation cost a total of 7.5 million Singapore dollars.
The 2-meter-high and 3-ton statue of the little Merlion is also Mr. Lin's work. The lion's body is made of concrete, its surface is covered with ceramic scales, and its eyes are small red cups. At night, overlooking the sea outside Merlion Park, the ship's shadow is dim and thousands of lights are flashing, which is a rural scenery on the sea. There are seven Merlion Parks in Singapore, but only two are newly built in Lin Lang. The other five companies are located in Tourism Bureau Headquarters, Sentosa, Huibai Mountain and Hongmao Bridge.
There is also a 37-meter-high giant Merlion statue on Sentosa Island, a resort in the south of Singapore's main island. It's not so much a statue as a building. Its interior is hollow, allowing visitors to take the elevator to the top to have a bird's eye view of Sentosa and the south of Singapore Island. Its eyes will also emit laser beams, and with the nearby music fountain, it will present a sound and light performance.
