Yichun No.1 Engineering Machinery Factory was founded in 1964, with a planned investment of130,000 yuan. The construction scale has an annual output of 500 anti-aircraft machine guns 14.5 mm, with a caliber of 12.7 mm. Although it was a third-line small military factory, it was built by Shanghai First Electromechanical Bureau at that time. According to the requirements, the capital construction will be completed during 1965- 1966. In addition to more than 30,000 square meters of factories, related living quarters will be built.
1969 was completed and put into operation after all the conditions were met, and the national plan was completed for 14 years in a row, and profits were realized every year. It can be said that the 1970s was the most prosperous and lively period of the factory. The living area of the factory, which stretches for several kilometers, is very lively. During the day, the loudspeakers kept ringing and the workers were busy. At night, the factory is brightly lit and the cinema is crowded. At the peak, there were more than 3,000 employees and a family population of over 10,000, which turned a remote and deserted mountain village into a bustling place.
The benefits of the factory are good, and the lives of employees are also good. During the Chinese New Year holiday, the factory will prepare a lot of daily necessities and distribute them to employees free of charge. The house is divided, and the home is equipped with a gas water heater, a gas stove and an electric fan. Lunch meat, sugar, tea, baskets of apples, a hanging of frozen meat, a car with hairtail and boxes of local products are distributed to employees as benefits; On weekends, with the departure of buses, people go shopping in the city in an endless stream.
In the 1980s, with the reduction of military purchase orders, enterprises were forced to switch from military to civilian. But unlike the fate of most third-tier factories, the transformation of 9446 factory was very successful. In the field of petroleum energy, R&D and the production of hydraulic torque converter and three-cone bit have now become one of the four major bit manufacturers in the petroleum drilling and production industry. By 1987, the enterprise had to move to Yichun for development. Kilometers of old factories and residential areas in Kowloon have all been handed over to the local authorities in good condition.
After the relocation of the First Machinery Factory, some of the old factory buildings left over from previous years were reused by local private enterprises and developed into scenic spots mainly for drifting. More farms for local villagers can be regarded as secondary utilization. Although some tall and wide factories on the roadside are no longer used and some are dilapidated, they still show the momentum of the year.
Along the flat asphalt road, some buildings with red bricks and blue tiles are distributed on both sides of the road. These houses are the living quarters of machinery factories, including factory dormitories, children's schools, shops, cinemas and so on. Now the houses in the living area are seriously damaged, and most of them are in a state of abandonment. It has been uninhabited and neglected all the year round, and some houses have been buried by weeds and dense forests.
These architectural relics bear witness to a special period. Millions of whistleblowers responded to the call and dedicated their best youth to the national defense cause of the motherland.
