Gongtan Ancient Town Gongtan Ancient Town is located in Youyang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County, Chongqing, on the east bank of Wujiang River at the intersection of Wujiang River and Apeng River. It is an ancient town with a history of 1700 years.

The name of this ancient town comes from a folklore. According to legend, there was a monk named Zeng Ao in the Ming Dynasty who traveled here by cloud.
