Avoid breaking tableware.
There is also the custom of avoiding breaking utensils on New Year's Eve. People think that if plates and cups are broken on this day, it means that there will be bad luck in the new year. Sometimes if you accidentally break cups and plates on this day, the elders will wrap them in red paper and recite auspicious words like "peace".
Don't sweep the floor on the first day.
On the first day of New Year's Day, the whole family get together and pay New Year's greetings, eating peanuts, melon seeds, fruits and cigarettes. Peeled skins, shells, dregs, scraps of paper and cigarette butts are everywhere, so people have come up with a flexible way to sweep from the outside to the inside, symbolizing the treasure entering the door. After sweeping, put it in the trash can or wastebasket for preservation.
