During the Spring Festival, why do some rural people place a bamboo stick horizontally at the front door and main room door?

This is a kind of folk culture. Rural people have always believed that people have souls. When the deceased go to Fengdu City, they have to ride a horse. Therefore, after death, they will ask a paper maker to tie a big red horse, and a stableboy will wait on it. There will also be a cushion to sit on immediately. In the earth temple, a plate sprinkled with plant ashes, incense and a flag made of burning paper were used to drag the soul, put it on a horse, and set it on fire. The horse became the mount of the deceased.

The stick was a tethering post for the ancestors. When the ancestors came back on horseback, they could not ride their horses into the house. Therefore, a horse tethering post was placed at the door so that the ancestors could tie their horses at the door. Then why does it have to be placed horizontally? It is placed horizontally to block the mourning door god. I just knew that people in rural areas would sometimes call you a loser, but I didn’t know that there really was a loser. My father would tell me about the story of the God of Conferment, saying that the mourning door god turned out to be Jiang Ziya’s wife Ma. When Jiang Ziya was not yet developed, this woman disliked poverty and loved the rich, so she abandoned Jiang Ziya. Later, when Jiang Ziya made her a god, she She became the broom star, the god of mourning.

When Jiang Ziya was conferred as a god, he ordered Ma not to walk across the grass from now on. Therefore, the Sangmen God will turn back when he sees Hengcao. The purpose of placing the horse-hitch stakes horizontally is to block the mourning door god from entering the house. The New Year is a day for praying for blessings. All gods are welcome, but the mourning of door gods is not welcome.

Also, the time to put sticks at the door is on New Year’s Eve. When preparing to go to bed, put the sticks outside the door and close the door. This stick should be left there for one day on the first day of the new year and can not be taken away until it gets dark. In my local rural area, setting up "wealth sticks" and scattering sesame poles in the courtyard at night are also done together. The first implication is to prevent family wealth from flowing out, and my family wealth is blocked at the door. Another implication is that family wealth is growing like sesame seeds blooming.
