Geomantic interpretation of Yuan Shikai's ancestral grave

Yuan Shikai is a native of Xiangcheng, Henan Province. After his birth mother died, he never went back to his hometown. After his death, he was buried in Anyang Huanshui. In addition, he built a "Lin Yuan" cemetery. Yuan Shikai didn't return to his hometown until his death. This hides the pain of his life experience, because his birth mother went through the door first, raised five children, and was named Mrs. Yipin, but he could not enter the ancestral grave, which became his eternal pain.

1859, 16 September (Xianfeng nine years), Yuan Shikai was born in Zhangying Village, Beiyuan, Xiangcheng County, Henan Province. There is a Shi Yao farm 20 miles east of Yuan Zhangying village. Yuan Shikai's grandfather and uncle bought it, and it was later transformed into Yuan Zhai by Yuan Jia. Shortly after Yuan Shikai was born, the whole family moved to Yuan Zhai.

Yuan Shikai's ancestors were poor, and he began to develop from Yuan Shikai's grandfather and became an official in the DPRK. Yuan Shikai's grandfather, Yuan Shusan, had two sons. The eldest son, Yuan Baozhong, was Yuan Shikai's biological father, but he never became famous. He donated a position as a Tongzhi Officer, and now he is doing group training in the countryside. The second son, Yuan Baoqing, is Yuan Shikai's uncle and a juren with outstanding military achievements.

Yuan Baozhong was engaged to the Guo family when he was young, but before the marriage, the Guo family was seriously ill and could not hold a wedding for the time being. Life and death were uncertain. Yuan Jia is a noble family, and the Guo family can't delay Yuan Baozhong's marriage and children, so they proposed to divorce the Guo family, which is a big family, and naturally they don't want to divorce. For the sake of the two families' face, they discussed it and first gave Yuan Baozhong a concubine room.

Yuan Shikai's biological mother was introduced and gave birth to her eldest son, Yuan Shichang. Soon, the Guo family, who was engaged to Yuan Baozhong, recovered from illness and was married to Yuan Jia by Ming media, giving birth to a second son, Yuan Shidun. As a result, Yuan Baozhong had two wives, but in traditional ethics, there could only be one wife. Because the Guo family was engaged before, the Guo family was a wife.

Although the Guo family was well-off, he was already weak and died after giving birth to his first son, Yuan Shidun. Yuan Shikai's biological mother Liu later gave birth to four sons, namely Yuan Shilian, Yuan Shikai, Master Yuan and Yuan Shitong.

Although Yuan Shikai's first mother, Guo, passed away, and his biological mother, Liu, became his second wife, she always assumed the responsibility of being a wife and kept Yuan's family in good order. However, until his father, Yuan Baozhong, passed away, there was no ceremony of strengthening the body with concubines, so Yuan Shikai's biological mother, Liu, was always an unreasonable concubine.

190 1 April, Liu died in Jinan. At that time, Cixi was fleeing to the west, and the situation depended on Yuan Shikai. So Yuan Shikai couldn't go back to bury his mother immediately, so his third brother Yuan Shilian had to go home and bury his mother first. After the signing of the "Xin Chou Treaty", the situation was stable, and Yuan Shikai was promoted to governor of Zhili and minister of Beiyang.

Yuan Shikai asked Cixi and Emperor Guangxu for leave and went back to his hometown to bury his mother. Cixi also gave Yuan Shikai a 40-day holiday, gave Mrs. Liu a gift seal, an altar and 3,200 taels of silver, and ordered Zhang, the governor of Henan Province, to make a special trip to Xiangcheng to offer sacrifices.

1August, 902, Yuan Shikai, who was proud of the spring breeze, thought that he could return to his hometown and worship his ancestors. At that time, Yuan Shikai had only one wish, that is, to put his mother in the grave. However, Yuan Shidun, Yuan Shikai's second brother, resolutely opposes the burial of Yuan Shikai's biological mother Liu and his biological father Yuan Baozhong, and is only allowed to be buried outside on the grounds that Yuan Shikai's biological mother is

Yuan Shikai was livid, and he was unconvinced. His biological mother Liu started earlier than Yuan Shidun's mother Guo and gave birth to five sons. Cixi also gave Mrs. Zheng Yipin a letter. Why can't she go into the ancestral grave?

However, Yuan Shidun took out the identity of the eldest son, claiming that "Yuan Shikai's official position is different". No matter how big Yuan Shikai's official position was, it could not destroy the official position system at that time, because there were rules at that time, and concubines who were concubines could not go out from the main entrance, nor could they be buried in the right hole of the ancestral grave, let alone with their husbands. The location of the joint burial is reserved for the wife.

Yuan Shikai didn't want his family to bury his mother in this way. He insisted on burying his mother at the main entrance and his father in the ancestral grave. However, Yuan Shidun, the eldest son, was not flexible in the face of Yuan Shikai's pleading. Even the governor of Henan personally intervened. Speaking of it, this is a patriarchal family matter. No matter how old Yuan Shikai is, he can only listen to his eldest brother.

Yuan Shikai was helpless because of the feudal hierarchy and patriarchal clan system. In desperation, after discussing with his brothers, he simply refused to let his biological mother Liu Jinyuan's ancestral grave and chose a cemetery to rebury his mother. Judging from the existing photos, Liu's cemetery is very large, with archways, graves and tombstones.

Yuan Shikai went back to his hometown to bury his mother, which was glorious and even more regrettable. At this point, Yuan Shikai and his brother turned against each other and did not communicate with each other. After his mother's funeral, he vowed never to return to Xiangcheng, his hometown, until June 6, 2006, when Yuan Shikai died of illness in Beijing and died in Huanshang Village, and never set foot on Yuan again.
