Changshu, why is it called Changshu?

I am free this afternoon. I went to the shoemaker's stall at the corner of Jingyu Road to repair my shoes. This cobbler is called' Little Suzhou' by retired workers in their seventies and eighties. In fact, he is 58 years old. 1983 from Suzhou Xiangcheng to Shanghai as a cobbler and married a Shanghai wife. Now his hukou has become Shanghai, with a soft Suzhou dialect and a smile. Because he is from Shanghai, he is a little disabled and is a vulnerable group in the eyes of urban management. He built a shed and will not tear it down. His craft is good, and his price is rising year by year. Those people call him "Little Suzhou". Little Suzhou talked to me while mending shoes. I said xiangcheng district is a good place. It's in the north of Suzhou. He said that now the high-speed rail is there, and his original countryside has now become an urban area. I said that Suzhou is located in the plain water network, the land of fish and rice, and entered the farming society very early. Wu people have a stable life, slow pace, slow speech and no fighting spirit. Unlike those of us who are semi-plowed, semi-herded and aggressive in hilly areas, you defeated Wu with national strength, but the Vietnamese were tenacious and finally defeated Wu. Little Suzhou listened to me with a smile and didn't refute me. I said that I had just been to Shajiabang last week, and he said that Changshu has low terrain and many river networks. He said, you know what? I really don't know. I said, tell me. Little Suzhou has a strong Wu dialect, such as storytellers and pingtan artists. He said, Changshu, a long time ago, I didn't know its name. One year, one day, there was an emperor who was very close to the people and diligent. He visited there in the crisp autumn and saw a golden rice field with no end in sight. You know, low terrain and plenty of water are suitable for growing rice. The emperor was very happy and said to the ministers around him, What is the name of this place? The minister flatters the nameless place, please give it to the emperor. The emperor said, let's call it Changshu, which means that rice is Changshu, which is ripe every year and harvested every year. Changshu has its own name. I was very happy to hear that and said' Little Suzhou', thank you. I really didn't know Changshu meant that. that is such a good name. In fact, when I went to Shajiabang this time, I thought, how can there be such reeds in southern Jiangsu? How big it is! Xiao Suzhou answered very well. Whether there is such an emperor or not, whether the name of Changshu comes from it or not. Folklore always sends beautiful things everywhere. People want to have plenty of food and clothing, to be safe for the country and people, and to live freely. People love their hometown, and Jiangnan has beautiful scenery. Changshu and Suzhou are good places, and the motherland is blessed with a treasure trove of geomantic omen.
