Xun (1855- 1935) was born in Xiangshan, Guangdong. His ancestors started a business and lived in the "Liuyuan" between Liuboyong and Lizhiwan in Xiguan, Guangzhou, which was one of the best gardens in Guangzhou at that time. At the age of twenty-four, he quickly took the exam in the north, and returned to the south to the West Lake. Seeing the beautiful scenery of the West Lake, he couldn't help admiring: "My hometown doesn't have such good lakes and mountains." When he went to Yang Gongdi, he saw Songzhuang (now "Guo Zhuang") near Wolong Bridge, and he was envious. He came to visit in the name of "a new family" because the host had another guest at that time and was declined. Liu Xue requested and proposed to build a better garden in the local area. Seven years later, Liu Xue was admitted to Jinshi, but his official position was not satisfactory, so he entered the business world and soon became a rich man in Guangdong. 1898 at the age of 43, he returned to Hangzhou, bought a large piece of land near the West Lake in the south of Dingjiashan at a high price, and began to devote himself to building his "Shuizhuju", namely "Liu Zhuang". Liu Xue, a scholar, has a keen interest in ancient gardens. Through the construction of "Shuizhuju", he put his gardening thoughts and art into practice. It took 8 years and cost 10 more than two thousand silver. At the end of 1905, this huge project was completed. Water and bamboo live in the same house, except water. Water, can reach the outer lake, to Yongjin Gate; Bamboo, which can provide shade, tranquility and far-reaching, is an essential character for a person.
It is said that Xun had a debt problem in raising funds for Sun Yat-sen's revolution, and Shuizhuju was sealed up and auctioned, with a price tag of 22 million taels of silver, which no one dared to ask for. 19 16, Zhejiang overseers arranged for Kang Youwei to spend the summer in Shuizhuju. Kang Youwei lived in Shuizhuju for a month. During this period, the more he lived, the more he felt that this area was a treasure trove of feng shui. He simply bought a large piece of land at the foot of Dingjiashan, north of Shuizhuju, and built his own garden-"One Day Garden". Kang Youwei also imitated Zuiweng Pavilion and Xiyu Pavilion and wrote a poem "Garden Day". 1927, Kang Youwei died. When the Northern Expeditionary Army entered Zhejiang, Governor Zhang Jingjiang ordered the closure of the One-Day Garden 1954 on the grounds of "protecting the imperial remnants and encroaching on public property", and Liu Zhuang was converted into a state guesthouse, including Han Zhuang, Yangzhuang, Kangzhuang and Fan Zhuang, covering an area of 360,000 square meters. President Mao Zedong often lives here. Two major events that shocked China and foreign countries occurred: the first constitution of People's Republic of China (PRC) was drafted here; The Sino-US joint communique was signed here. Until now, Mao Zedong still has a reading room. Pavilions and pavilions, small bridges and flowing water, winding paths leading to secluded places, towering bamboos, ancient trees and strange rocks, the environment is extremely elegant, which can make people forget the noise of the world.
