What is the legend of Tianmen in Hubei?

It has the reputation of "the hometown of top scholars"

Tianmen, called Jingling in ancient times. According to Gao Dong Miscellanies, "Those who are in the mausoleum are also in the mausoleum." That is, Dahongshan suddenly stops here, facing the endless Jianghan Plain. Qin's hometown is in Jingling County. During the Five Dynasties, due to the taboo of Shi Jingtang in the late Jin Dynasty and Zhao Jing, the grandfather of Zhao Kuangyin in the Northern Song Dynasty, Jingling was changed to Jingling several times. In the fourth year of Yongzheng in Qing Dynasty (1726), in order to avoid the mausoleum of Emperor Kangxi, Jingling was changed to Tianmen. Its name comes from Tianmen Mountain, 25 kilometers northwest of the county seat.

Tianmenshan residential area stretches for more than 20 miles, with Jianghan as the barrier, which is very majestic. Its main peak confronts Ling Xiao, the head of Weilong, and is as hollow as Tianmen, hence the name Tianmen, which is the first traffic artery between Tianmen and Jingshan.

Tianmen is the gate of heaven, so Tianmen is also the only place where all kinds of immortals must pass. Legend has it that the Goddess Chang'e flying to the moon and Han Xiangzi, one of the Eight Immortals, ascended to heaven from Tianmen. And Buddha Sakyamuni went to Fozi Mountain from here to collect disciples and teach. The "Moon Pier" on the stone peaks on both sides of Tianmen is said to be the take-off place of the Goddess Chang'e flying to the moon in those days, hence the name.

The earliest record of "Goddess the Goddess Chang'e flying to the moon" is in "Returning to Tibet" in the early years of the Warring States Period: "Yesterday, Chang 'e took the fairy medicine of the Queen Mother of the West, so last month was the essence of the moon". It wasn't until the Han Dynasty that Chang 'e got a husband: "I invited the Queen Mother of the West to steal the elixir to go to the moon, and the loss was unbearable" (An Huai Nan Zi Ming Lan). Zhang Heng in the Eastern Han Dynasty wrote in Lingxian that Chang 'e was the wife of Yi and she stole the elixir of the Queen Mother. Before she ran to the moon, she asked Huang (an ancient wizard) to make up for it (a fortune-telling method), calling it "auspicious", but on the moon, she became a toad! In these records before the Six Dynasties, the image of Chang 'e seems to have always belonged to the "abandoned wife thief".

Legend is just a legend, and it should have been finalized here. What is it that can turn a beautiful woman into a toad? It's so out of line with the mentality of China people. The story is so beautiful! After Chang 'e rose to the Moon Palace, she lived in the bleak and indifferent Guanghan Palace and missed Houyi, and spent endless lonely years. Her mood and life made many literati feel and daydream, and gradually her loneliness in the Moon Palace touched later poets and literati. They have done a lot of processing and modification to the story of the Goddess Chang'e flying to the moon, making the image of Chang 'e as beautiful as the moon, which accords with people's pursuit and sublimation of beauty. Li Bai's Drinking asking for the moon in the Tang Dynasty: "The white rabbit comes back to life in autumn. Who is Chang 'e's neighbor? " Li Shangyin praised: "Su E, a young woman, is hardy and fights frost in the middle of the month. "Chang 'e has become the embodiment of the moon in people's hearts, beautiful and lonely.

In the novel Xia Zhi Chuan in the late Ming Dynasty, "the Goddess Chang'e flying to the moon" formed a complete story. It is reported that King Xia Taikang, seeing that Hou Yi's wife Chang 'e was stunning, wanted to exchange the land of Youzhou for Chang 'e, but Hou Yi agreed because of his greed for money. Chang 'e was so angry that she stole her husband's elixir from the Queen Mother of the West and flew to the Moon Palace. In the novel, Chang 'e is described as "smart by nature, quiet and clean". Only then did Chang 'e completely turn over and become a female image who bravely resisted for freedom.

In modern times, Chang 'e's ideological realm was by going up one flight of stairs. It is said that there will be ten days in the sky when chaos first opens. Hou Yi made great contributions to the world by shooting down nine suns in one breath with his brave and exquisite archery. The people held him as king, but he was proud of himself and began to indulge in debauchery and kill innocent people. CoCo Lee, who lives in the mire, hates his guts. Worried that the good times would not last long, Hou Yi asked the Queen Mother of the West for the elixir of life. His wife, Chang 'e, worried that he would live forever, even bring disaster to the country and people, so she stole the elixir of life ... In short, after unremitting efforts, Chang 'e finally became completely virtuous and beautiful.

There is another saying: Feng Meng, a disciple of Hou Yi, lusted after Chang 'e's beauty and flirted with her while Hou Yi was away. Chang 'e had no choice but to swallow the elixir and fly away. Ps: Feng Meng was jealous of his archery and always hoped that he would die soon. When he went out hunting, he forced Chang 'e to hand over the elixir of life. Chang 'e swallowed the elixir in order not to let the treasure fall into the enemy's hands, but floated lightly and went straight to the sky. Because Chang 'e was worried about her husband, she flew to the nearest moon palace to settle down. After hearing the news that the Goddess Chang'e flying to the moon had become an immortal, people placed incense tables under the moon and prayed for good luck and peace to the kind Chang 'e. As the day in the Goddess Chang'e flying to the moon happens to be August 15, every August 15, Houyi and the villagers will put a fruit festival on the moon to express their thoughts on Chang 'e. Generation after generation, people designated August 15 as the Mid-Autumn Festival, and the custom of Mid-Autumn Festival in Yue Bai also spread among the people.
