The shanzhai in Danba is the most distinctive Tibetan village in Jiarong, especially in Niexia, Geshizha and Bati townships. The shanzhai in Danba used to be called Diaolou Zhaifang. Diaolou and Zhaifang, originally two different styles of buildings, have been organically combined in the passage of time. In appearance, it has both the characteristics of stockade and the shape of watchtower. Diaolou house is usually three or four stories, with a wing on one side. However, no matter how the house and wings are built, the outer edge of the top floor is surrounded by yellow, black and white ribbons, which is a major feature of Jia Rong's Tibetan village.
