Why is Qing Xiling not as famous as Qing Dongling? What are the tombs of emperors in the Qing tombs?

Different from the Ming Tombs, the imperial tombs of the Qing Dynasty are divided into two places, namely the Qing Dongling Mausoleum and the Qing Xiling Mausoleum. The nine emperors who entered the customs after the Qing Dynasty were buried in two different imperial tombs.

The most intuitive difference between Qing Dongling Mausoleum and Qing Xiling Mausoleum is that they are located in different geographical locations, and the construction time is also divided into different periods. One more thing, as we mentioned earlier, emperors in the Qing Dynasty were buried differently.

Located in zunhua city, Tangshan City, Hebei Province, the Qing Tombs were built in the 18th year of Shunzhi, after the emperor shunzhi died. The five emperors Shunzhi, Kangxi, Qianlong, Xianfeng and Tongzhi were all buried here. Qing Xiling is located in Yixian County, Baoding City, Hebei Province. Founded in the eighth year of Yongzheng in Yong Zhengdi, there are four emperors: Yongzheng, Jiaqing, Daoguang and Guangxu.

Besides the tombs of different emperors, the tombs of empresses and empresses were also built, such as Ding Dong Mausoleum, Jingling Mausoleum and Yuling Princess Garden. The Western Qing Mausoleum includes Taidong Mausoleum, Huaiwang Mausoleum and Princess Mausoleum of Yong Zhengdi Xifei.

Here, we will find several interesting places in two Qing Dynasty imperial tombs. Xiqing Mausoleum began in Yong Zhengdi and was built in the middle of 1960. At that time, the official statement was that the Dongqing Mausoleum was "incomplete, and the soil in the cave was filled with gravel, so it was really unusable. (Engineering History Book), that is to say, Yong Zhengdi felt that the geomantic geological conditions of the Qing Dongling Mausoleum were not good, and it was not suitable as a blessed place for the mausoleum.

It seems quite reasonable. Later, Emperor Qianlong's Yuling did have water seepage, but the Qing Dongling was so big that it was really impossible to find a good place to build Yong Zhengdi Mausoleum.

I have also seen a saying that Yong Zhengdi built the Qing Xiling Mausoleum because Yong Zhengdi's throne was not aboveboard, and he was speechless to meet Emperor Kangxi in the grave, so he built the Qing Xiling Mausoleum, which also involved a mystery that has not been solved for many years-the mystery of Yong Zhengdi's succession. Whether he usurped the throne has not yet reached an accurate conclusion, but Yong Zhengdi should have a bad feeling about Emperor Kangxi. As it happens, the geological conditions of the Qing Dongling Mausoleum are not so excellent. With this factor, Yong Zhengdi openly found another place to build a mausoleum.

But when his son Emperor Qianlong returned to the tomb of his grandfather, Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, I think everyone knew that Emperor Qianlong worshipped his grandfather, Emperor Kangxi, and everyone heard it. Out of respect for his grandfather, he suddenly abdicated when he was in power for 60 years, just to not exceed the ruling time of Emperor Kangxi.

How can we have the best of both worlds? Qianlong thought of the "Zhao Mu system", which is popularly said that in the ancestral hall, father and son are always listed separately, and grandparents and grandchildren are always in the same column. In this way, Emperor Qianlong can not only satisfy himself and his beloved grandfather Kangxi to be buried in the Qing Dongling, but also kill two birds with one stone.
