Guo Pu, the originator of Feng Shui

Guo Pu, a famous scholar in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, is not only a writer and an exegetist, but also a master of Taoism and mathematics, and the founder of the poems about immortals. From the academic origin, Guo Pu not only inherited the Yi-ology from his family, but also inherited the Taoist skills. He was the most famous alchemist in Jin Dynasty. Legend has it that he is good at predicting prophets and many strange alchemies.

Guo Pu, the author of China's ancient white story collection "Buried Book", is regarded as a generation of Feng Shui master, not by speculation. It was he who extracted the word "Feng Shui" from the popular Feng Shui technique, which was deeply rooted in people's hearts and became popular. It can be said that, like Confucius' Confucian culture, Guo Pu's Feng Shui theory is also the essence of China's traditional culture, and even influenced the thoughts of ancient people in China. Until today, Feng Shui still affects people's lives.

Guo Pu defined Feng Shui as early as 1000 years ago. "Burial Book" said: "Buried people are angry, and the gas is scattered by the wind. The boundary water stops, but the gathering lasts for a long time. This is called feng shui. " This is why we usually call it "Feng Shui". The world calls Guo Pu the originator of geomantic omen, and he learned his geomantic omen from Qingwuzi. Wu Zi of Qing Dynasty taught Guo Gong to hide books in green bags (bags made of green cloth in ancient times were used to hide valuable things), while Zhao Zai, the master of Guo Pu, often tried to steal what he had, but failed again and again, and was finally burned by fire, so he had to sigh. Duke Hou wrote the Book of Burial based on the memory of the book in the green bag. This was just an episode at that time. It can be seen that the secret book "Burial Book" is extraordinary.

The Book of Jin said: "If you are familiar with the classics, you will be knowledgeable"; "Strange words in ancient Chinese are better than calculations in the lunar calendar"; "The astronomical divination of the five elements in the cave is busy with disasters, which leads to poor management. Although Fang Jing and Guan Yu can't get through it. " From these written records, we can see Guo Pu's popularity and position in academic circles at that time.

The Book of Jin records that when Pu was young, a man proficient in divination went to his hometown, and Guo Pu worshipped him as a teacher and got a set of books in a green bag. This man is the legendary Qing Wuzi, so Guo Pu still has a teacher. Qing Wuzi preached the Dharma to Duke Guo and taught him to hide books in green bags (bags made of green cloth in ancient times were used to hide valuables). Zhao Zai, a disciple of Guo Pu, often tried to steal what he owned, but failed repeatedly. Finally, I was destroyed by a fire and had to sigh. After Guo Gong wrote the burial book according to the writing in the green bag, it can be seen that this secret book is extraordinary.

Guo Pu received nine volumes of Feng Shui by Guo Gong in Hedong. He collected the achievements of geomantic omen in China, abolished Bazhai geomantic omen, inherited The First Classic of Fox and The Classic of Qingnang, and wrote a great geomantic omen book, or "Funeral Classic", which comprehensively expounded geomantic omen theory and practice, left an immortal work for later generations, laid the theoretical foundation of China geomantic omen, and was highly respected by later geomantic omen circles. The Book of Burial was also accepted by the imperial court as the "Imperial Minister of the Forbidden City" and was used in the palace.

Some scholars question whether the Book of Burial was written by Guo Pu. For example, in the Qing Dynasty, Ji Yun thought that "there are as many as 20 kinds of books since the Song Dynasty, and the home of technology in the rear area is competing to wash white ..."; Ding Ruipu's "Feng Shui Jie Puzzle", a five-printed edition of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty, also has similar statements and textual research with Ji Yun. Therefore, many scholars believe that the book of burial is a work of the Tang and Song Dynasties. However, after the Qing Dynasty, geomantic magicians still regarded Guo Pu as the originator and identified Guo Pu as the burial book.

Guo Pu's geomantic anecdotes.

At that time, everyone knew that Guo Pu was proficient in mathematics, especially Feng Shui. Before he became famous, his mother died, and Guo Pu chose a very ordinary place to be buried there. This land is close to the water and is often flooded. At that time, many Mr. Feng Shui said that the land was not good and suggested that he move out. Guo Pu smiled and thanked him and said, Look. Strange to say, one year later, the flood did not rise, but receded far away, and dozens of miles around the cemetery became fine fertile fields. Since then, people have to sit up and take notice of him. Guo Pu became famous, and many people from afar came here and invited him to visit the grave for burial. It can be seen that a good feng shui master should not only understand geography, but also be familiar with water conservancy and even astrology.

At that time, Jin Mingdi was a master of Feng Shui. He heard that Guo Pu took photos of people's graves everywhere, and he felt a sense of accomplishment, so he made a private visit to observe Guo Pu's grave. Once, on a mountain corner, I saw a villager burying the Dragon Horn. So Jin Mingdi walked up to the villagers and said, "Why did you bury the Dragon Horn?" According to the criminal law at that time, the dragon horn should be buried all over the door. The owner replied, "Mr Guo Pu told me. He said that the Dragon Horn is buried here, and it will be the son of heaven within three years. " Jin Mingdi said: "If you are buried here, you will have a son of heaven." He asked, "Are you burying your grave here to give your family a day?" Hearing this, the villagers laughed: "It's not that there will be a son of heaven in my family, but that the son of heaven can come here and ask." This is in line with Guo Pu's judgment and the height of Feng Shui. Jin Mingdi then made up his mind to find master Guo Pu. Later, when Jin Mingdi met Guo Pu, he increased his knowledge of Feng Shui, so he cancelled the criminal law of burying dragon horns with chopped doors.

Once again, an official named Zhang Yu's great-grandfather died, and Guo Pu was invited to choose a place for burial. Guo Pu traveled for a few days and chose two beautiful caves. He said to Changyu, "Your beautiful cave has a dilemma. After the first burial, you can live for a hundred years, ranging from three to three years, but your descendants are not prosperous. The number of years of the second place should be reduced by half, and the official position will stop at the Qing school, but it will be distinguished by future generations. I don't know where you are going to choose? " . Changyu chose the second place without thinking. This shows that the traditional concept of China people is to hope that future generations will prosper.

Guo Pu, a geomantic master, has many deeds, which have a great influence on later generations. His masterpiece Buried Sutra has always been regarded as a treasure trove of geomantic omen. In fact, Guo Gong's magic power is also superb. There is an interesting story in the Book of Jin State Park: When Guo Pu crossed the Lujiang River in the south, he took a fancy to the handmaid of Hu, the satrap of Lujiang. Because it was difficult to invite, Guo Pu secretly made it and scattered red beans around Hu Zhai at night. The next morning, the house that Hu suddenly found was surrounded by thousands of people in red. When Hu approached and looked again, these people in red disappeared. So back and forth, Hu felt very strange and told Guo Pu about it. Hearing this, Guo Pu said nonsense, "This is messing with your maid. Send her to the southeast for takeout. Don't bargain when selling, so that the evil spirits at home will be removed. " At Guo Pu's words, the satrap Hu sent a servant girl to twenty miles southeast. Guo Pu sent her family there and bought her at a low price.
