In the Tang Dynasty, Ling You, the master of Weishan, was one of the most famous monks who came out of the incense kitchen. Master Lingshou of Weishan, son of Zhao in Changxi, Fuzhou. /kloc-became a monk in 0/5 years, lawyer of Jianshan Temple in this county. In longxing temple, Hangzhou, I shaved my hair and learned to teach big and small. Twenty-three trips to Jiangxi, a hundred feet tall, Xu entered the room, so the school ranked first.
At that time, Master Ling You was appointed as the next emperor of Baizhang Huaihai Gate, in charge of the cooking and diet of Daliao. Every time he draws water, he sees a turtle appear and eat the leftovers he has picked up. So every time he draws water, he always puts the leftovers on the water stone for the tortoise to eat. So after a long time, one night, Master Ling You suddenly saw a turtle in his dream and told him that he was deeply grateful, because he had been feeding and supporting rice for a long time, and now he was about to leave, because he knew he was in trouble, so he came to repay him.
In the dream, he asked what the problem was. Gui Ling said that he would suffer from a very serious eye disease, so he asked Gui Ling for a way to save him. Gui Ling told him that in order to repay his kindness, he would exile his saliva to the waterside stone he knew. As long as he applies it to his eyes, the patient will be cured. The next morning, when he woke up, his eyes were so painful that he could hardly support them. He groped for the water stone and put saliva on his eyes, just like the tortoise in the dream. In a short time, not only the pain disappeared, but also the eyesight was 10 thousand times better than before, enabling people to observe astronomy, understand geography and explore and understand the subtleties of Feng Shui. At that time, people were called gods, gods.
At that time, there was a strange monk named Sima Toutuo, who was originally a descendant of Sima Yi in the Three Kingdoms. Although he was born into a noble family, he didn't like Mu Rongshi. He is young and easy to become a monk in Hengshan Mountain in Nanyue. Later, he lived in Emeiji, Huanglong Mountain, Jiangxi Province, and made a Buddhist trip. One day, Sima Toutuo came to visit the Baizhang Zen Master and told him that he had found a place in Weishan, Hunan Province, which would produce 1,500 good knowledge, so that the Baizhang Zen Master could choose a person to be the abbot. Monk Baizhang asked Sima Toutuo if he could go to the abbot. Sima Toutuo said that Weishan was not the place where Baizhang monks lived. When Zen master Baizhang asked him why, Sima Toutuo said, "Monk, you are a man of bones, and that mountain is a mountain of meat. If you live there, there won't be more than 1000 disciples. 」
Zen master Baizhang asked again, "Is anyone in my temple qualified for this position?" Sima Toutuo asked the monks called out to check them one by one. At that time, Hua was sitting at the head of the temple, and Baizhang ordered the waiter to ask him out. Zen master Baizhang pointed to China and said to Sima Toutuo, "What about this man?" Sima Toutuo made Hua Lin feel effective and took several steps. Zen master Baizhang said, "No." Finally, he asked the waiter to call out Jackson Ling You. When Sima Toutuo met Zen master Ling You, he repeatedly praised him: "This man is the master of Weishan. Zen master Baizhang summoned Zen master Ling You that night and said, "I am begging for alms in this mountain. Living in Weishan, I hope to live up to expectations, learn something, and learn something wide. Soon, Zen master Baizhang sent Zen master Ling You to see abbot Weishan.
When Master Ling You went to Weishan to open the Dojo, he got help from Pei Xiu, the prime minister at that time. Pei Xiu, the prime minister, built 5,408 houses for him there, opened more than 5,400 mu of land and invited a Tripitaka. After doing these things, he asked Master Ling You what else he needed. Master Ling You said, "You have done everything you should, but there is still one thing you haven't done! I don't have an apprentice yet, please send your son to me to become a monk! Prime Minister Pei Xiu said: "I can't promise you this now, because I only have this son, and now he is an academician. I'm going back to ask the emperor and discuss it with my wife. "After returning home, the emperor agreed, and his wife agreed. Prime Minister Peixiu sent his son to Weishan to become a monk.
Pei Xiu's son is the first-generation founder of Jinshan Temple in Zhenjiang and a Buddhist monk. After Master Fahai arrived in Weishan, although he used to be an official, Master Ling You was very strict with him, ordering him to fetch water for 1000 people every day. One day, he was tired and painful when he was carrying water. When he sat down to rest, he couldn't help complaining: "A monk couldn't help but pick a bottle of water and eat it. Having said this, all the monks there were swollen at that time. The monk told Master Ling You what had happened. The master called Fahai and asked, "What did you say?" Fahai repeated this sentence again. Master Ling You said, "The old monk can get rid of 10,000 loads of grain by sitting for a while. You pick a little water and you die in an instant. "From then on, the male monk's stomach won't swell. Later, Master Ling You allowed Fahai to be closed for three years. Send him to Jinshan to open the Dojo three years later.
Another monk who walked out of the kitchen was Zhu Wenxi (820-899), a Zen master of Wu in Hangzhou. He is from Yuxi, Jiahe, Huzhou, and his surname is often Zhu. At the age of seven, he became a monk in Ibn Chorakuji Temple according to the regulations of the Qing Dynasty. After that, he studied and listened to the dharma, and he kept reciting it. As an adult, the teacher learned a lot and attended many ceremonies. When he practiced the Five Commandments, he was invited by Manjusri Bodhisattva to show his magic method, and the teacher had an epiphany. In the early years (859), Wu Wenxi, a Buddhist monk, went to Qi Feng Temple first, and then visited a kind-hearted monk. Zen master Wukong told him to participate in good knowledge extensively, so he went to Huayan Temple in Wutai Mountain to attend the ceremony. He went to worship Buddha in King Kong Cave. When Manjusri traveled by Golden Lion, his entourage gave him a gift, saying, "It's really no anger in face, mouth and heart." "Wenxi Jackson was stationed in Wuxi Wutai.
In the third year of Xian Tong (862), Master Wenxi went to Kannonji, Hongzhou to pay homage to Master Huishan Huiji, and Yang Shanxiao made the teacher serve as the temple seat. When Master Wenxi was cooking, he met Manjusri Bodhisattva and appeared on the porridge pot. Master Wenxi picked up the porridge-stirring grate and hit it. The mouth also said: "Manjusri comes from Manjusri, and Wenxi comes from Wenxi." Manjusri after listen to also said:
Bitter gourd has bitter roots, and melon is sweet. The practice of the three thieves was suspected by the old monk.
One day, a monk came to beg for a vegetarian meal, and Master Wenxi gave him half a vegetarian meal. Master Yangshan knew in advance that the strange monk was coming, so he asked Master Wenxi, "A fruit man just came. Did you give him food?" "The teacher said," Quit and give it back. "Yangshan said," You are of great benefit. 」
Later, Master Wenxi went to Zhejiang and lived in Longquan Temple. A monk asked his teacher, "What is Nirvana?" The teacher said, "All cigarettes should be checked." The monk asked again, "What is the general idea of Buddhism?" The teacher said, "Call the master of the hospital. This monk is paralyzed. " The monk asked again, "How can I be myself? The teacher was silent, and the monk was at a loss and asked again. The teacher said, "it's dark, I won't fly to the moon." After that, he was given purple clothes by the emperor and signed by the Zen master.
From the example of "a monk makes a fragrant kitchen", we can see that a person can often achieve something in the work of serving the public in a temple. The process of serving the public is not only a process of seeking happiness for oneself, but also a process of practicing. So in the jungle, if a person can serve the public with an ordinary and upright heart, you will be protected by buddhas and bodhisattvas and eventually become a respected monk.
