Acer truncatum is widely distributed in China. Jilin, Liaoning and Inner Mongolia in Northeast China, Beijing, Hebei, Henan and Shanxi in North China, Jiangsu and Anhui in Central China and Shaanxi and Gansu in Northwest China all have different natural forests. Its distribution scope covers more than ten provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government.
Natural forests are concentrated in Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan and Shandong in North China. Among them, Inner Mongolia has the largest number of wild Acer truncatum Bunge, accounting for about half of the total number of wild trees in China, and the trees are generally older and concentrated in Horqin area.
