Only Beidaihe in history, the rest are all fake! When the British engineer Jinda discovered Beidaihe, there was only a small fishing village called Liuzhuang in this place. When Jinda was surveying the Jinyu Railway line to Beidaihe, he lived in a temporary work shed built in Liuzhuang.
He found that the beach in this area was lined with green trees, blue sky and white clouds, large expanses of white sand, and gentle sea water. It was an excellent natural bathing place that suited the taste of Westerners for summer leisure and escape, so he decided to recommend it to his friends in China. In order to remember this place, Jinda marked the feature of this beach on the map as "there is a Daihe River in the north". The time should be 1884-1894. During this period, Jinda was employed by the Guannai Railway (later changed to Jinyu Railway). ) chief engineer.
At that time, China was divided by foreign powers, and a large number of Westerners were resident in the Beijing and Tianjin areas. Jinda vigorously promoted it to fellow villagers, and foreigners who had long been eager to bathe in the sea flocked there. At the same time, it also attracted Chinese dignitaries. , people bought houses here one after another, and the small coastal fishing village transformed overnight into the Oriental Isle of Wight, becoming a summer resort with a colonial flavor. What is its name? Liu Zhuang? It’s too rustic, it’s obviously a beach, how can it be called a village?
And there are too many Liuzhuangs in China. Later, according to Jinda's statement "there is a Daihe in the north", this place was called Beidaihe (there is also a saying that it is because of grammatical habits, Beidaihe is obviously a translation error, At that time, it became fashionable to come to Beidaihe in summer. Taking a train from Beijing to Beidaihe Station, then taking a donkey cart, or even riding a donkey to the beachside villa became the most fashionable travel.
As a result, photos of Western beauties riding donkeys became the most popular "tourism" advertising paintings at the time. Later, because the Qing government wanted to be invited to designate this beach as a concession, patriotic people launched the "Guoguo Movement" "And it was a success, and Beidaihe became famous at home and abroad.
The name Nandaihe has a history of more than 30 years. The reason is that Funing County at that time artificially piled up two dirt hills not far west of Beidaihe in order to intercept guests who went to Changli for sandboarding. After that, Shanghai Sand launched sandboarding and named it "Golden Mountain" and "Yinshan". Unexpectedly, it was a great success. The sandboarding site became bigger and bigger, with more projects added, and it evolved into today's Nandaihe Entertainment Center. It was obviously a ride on the popularity.
As for Dongdaihe, the locals in Qinhuangdao had never heard of it at first. Later, more and more outsiders came, and the locals gradually knew: Oh, it’s that place. It is said that such a name was given to facilitate real estate sales. Like Nandaihe, it is obviously popular. It is far away from Beidaihe. Not only does it not belong to the same province, there are three rivers in the middle: Datang River, Xiaotang River, and Shihe. Haikou is more than a hundred miles away.
Beidaihe and Nandaihe are on the same beach, but there is an additional Daihe estuary in the middle. Although they became two names because they were in different administrative regions at that time, today they have changed due to the division of administrative regions. It became a name that is more in line with its original meaning: Beidaihe New District, and it deserves its name.
