Where is Karakorum?

The Karakorum Mountains, located on the western border of China, extend from the easternmost part of Afghanistan to the southeast for about 480 kilometers. It is about 240 kilometers wide and 800 kilometers long. The average altitude is over 5500 meters.

Karakorum is the place where the longest glacier in the world is concentrated outside the mountains and high latitudes. The borders of Tajikistan, China, Pakistan, Afghanistan and India all converge in this mountain range, which endows this remote area with great geopolitical significance.
