If you want to feel the beauty of Siming Mountain, come to Shilin; If you want to explore Yuyao's profound cultural heritage as a famous literary country, come to Persimmon Forest.
Shilin village is in the hinterland of Siming Mountain. It takes 1.5 hours to drive from Yuyao along the west line of Shanghai. When you see another square boulder stacked on a rectangular stone pillar, Shilin Village will arrive. There are three words handed down from generation to generation in Shilin Village: surname, well and heart. There are 283 households in the village, and 777 households are all surnamed Shen. According to records, Zhou Wenwang's tenth son, named Shen Yu, is the ancestor of Shen Kuo, and the 45th ancestor moved here in the late Yuan and early Ming Dynasties, and is the ancestor of Shilin Shen Kuo, and is said to be the descendant of Shen Kuo. In the Shen Shi Ancestral Hall in the southwest corner of the village, there is a plaque of Wensu family.
There is a well in the village. According to the old man in the village, Taigong, the ancestor of persimmon forest, came here to chop wood one winter. He hung the rice bag he had brought on the trunk, and it was still hot at lunch. The next day, he dug a well by the tree, and the well water was steaming. He thought the place had good feng shui, so he built several thatched cottages and lived there for generations. For more than 600 years, this well has never dried up, and the whole village relies on it for drinking water. Although tap water has been installed in the village, the villagers still like to pick well water to drink.
From the northeast corner of the village entrance, walk 4 17 stone steps, and you will arrive at Danshan Chishui Scenic Area. Legend has it that ancient immortals killed sheep here, and the rock walls were all dyed red with sheep blood, so it was called Danshan; There is a small stream descending along the cliff. Dan Cliff is reflected in the stream, and the stream is also red, hence the name Chishui. There is a bridge over Chishui River, which is the only way to Zhang Cun, Yinjiang and Ningbo. It has been built many times in history. The existing bridge was built by Shen Yu of Shilin Village in 1859.
Most houses in the village are wooden houses with stone walls. Because the flat land in the village is limited and the distance between houses is very close, the road in the village is very narrow, and you can touch the stone walls on both sides with your hands. In front of and behind the village, persimmon trees, ginkgo trees, jujube trees and torreya grandis trees are planted in the corner. It can be said that the west wind is mature and the village is fragrant.
Perhaps Shen Kuo, a famous ancient scientist, was the ancestor. The people in Shilin village are different from other mountain people, and they advocate reading. None of the adults in the village is illiterate, and the whole village feels that their children have been admitted to the university. There used to be many court officials and literati in the village, so persimmon forest used to be called literati forest. After the resumption of the college entrance examination, there were sixty or seventy people admitted to colleges and universities in the village.
Now the village is called persimmon forest, because the mountains are full of persimmons. If you go to the persimmon forest in autumn evening, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the persimmon forest in autumn: red sunset glow, red sunrise, red frost leaves, red persimmons and a red world.
The ancient Shilin village is now a hot spot for tourists. As the first scenic spot in Yuyao, persimmon forest attracts a large number of tourists with its unique humanistic connotation and natural scenery. Some villagers saw the business opportunities contained in it and opened restaurants, hotels and canteens in succession. Shilin village, which has been silent for more than 600 years, is now lively.
