Historical records of jujube in Leling

In Qi Yao Min Shu written by Jia Sixie in the Northern Wei Dynasty, it is recorded: "Qingzhou has Xerox dates, with fine tendons and rich paste, ranking first in the world. Leling is the origin of jujube, with a cultivation history of more than 2,000 years. Known as "the hometown of jujube in China" and "the hometown of baili jujube". With the approval of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, Leling Jujube has become a national-level standardized production demonstration zone for golden jujube.

There is a "longevity star" jujube tree in the northeast of Leling County. It is said that Luo Chenggong, a peasant uprising army at the end of Sui Dynasty, tied his horse to rest under this tree. Qing Qianlong's "Leling County Records" records that in the 19th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, Leling County ordered the king to "teach the people to plant trees and plant jujubes for the people, and those who have classes plant jujubes to redeem them, so there are many jujubes in the city." Leling in Qing Dynasty is known as a treasure trove of geomantic omen. The poet Wu Taipang wrote in his poem, "In June, the lotus is blue, and thousands of dates shoot red clouds." It vividly describes the grand occasion of planting jujube trees in Leling at that time and the harvest scene of mature jujube trees covered with branches in autumn
