Why do Yao people choose to live by the mountain when choosing their place of residence?

First, the biggest feature of Yao folk houses is that they live by the mountain. In the past, they lived in scattered communities. Three to five households are a village, and more than 10 households are a village. Their houses are mainly bungalows, and the houses are arranged in rows on the hillside. People call this kind of house a brand kiln. Now their housing conditions have been greatly improved. The house they live in now is also made of reinforced concrete and gas-fired bricks.

Second, the Yao women in Chashan, Dayaoshan love a catty of curved silver plates. Yao women in Lingchuan and Rongshui stood on tall buildings, wrapped in towels and hung with colorful hats, elegant and unique. Yao people are mainly engaged in agriculture, and a few are engaged in forestry. Food is mainly rice, corn and sweet potato, and smoking is more common. The Yao nationality in northern Guangxi is dominated by "Camellia oleifera", and Dayaoshan is surrounded by pickled "bird cockroaches" and "animal cockroaches". Some Yao people pickled smoked pork and beef. These are all foods with unique flavors.

Third, Yao people have their own language. Yao people are mainly engaged in agriculture, forestry and hunting. Yao people are good at weaving and dyeing. Yao's religious beliefs are complex, and sects, Taoism and primitive religions are adapted to local conditions. The customs and habits of Yao people respect their ancestors very much. They are used to reciting their ancestors' names before eating, which means they can use them after tasting them.

Fourth, this is especially true for a hearty meal. On holidays, it is better to prepare pork, chicken, duck and wine for ancestor worship. This meal is also very special: the elderly and distinguished guests must be seated. If you are a guest, you should treat yourself warmly and enthusiastically. In some places, cockscomb should be given to guests.

When Yao people propose a toast to their guests, they are usually held up by girls to show their respect for the guests. Some venerable old people are toasting their guests as gifts. In Dashanyao, I like to entertain guests with camellia oleifera. When there are customers, it is customary to propose a toast to three bowls. As the saying goes, "one bowl is rare, two bowls are combined, and three bowls are true."
