The second story of Chencun: the road to the river

"Walking by the river, never wet your shoes" is a true portrayal of people in our hometown. We not only often walk along the river, but also mainly walk in the river, because it is a seasonal river. There is no water in the river most of the year, and even if there is water, it is rare, mostly in late autumn, and the time is very short. Only when the flood comes can people stop walking. This river road is the natural road for people along the Wuyang River. Historically, generations have returned home to visit relatives and work in the fields. Until the end of the last century, there were no chariots and horses left and disappeared into people's memory, so it is hard for anyone to imagine that people from their hometown have been coming and going by the river for thousands of years.

There are twenty or thirty villages along the Wuyang River, which are divided into two parts: mountains and hills. In the hilly stage, the river is wide and flat, and there are no canyons and cliffs, which is suitable for human beings to freely choose to enter and leave the river. Every village along the river has many roads leading to the river, and every village has a main road opposite to the river. Taking Chencun as an example, there are five roads extending from east to west to the river. The first one enters the river from the original East Pailou along the old canal, and this road has been unable to pass normally. Article 2 from the bottom of the ridge to Nantong into the river trough, cross the river to Liwagou. The third road south of the village enters the river and leads to Gaotianpo, which was once the main road for horses and chariots to enter the village in the last century. Article 4. From the old locust tree in the west of the village to the south, it enters the river and leads to Chuanguan ditch (the well on the southwest slope has dried up). According to local conditions, walking along the landscape topography and taking the river channel are typical examples. The ancient people's labor mainly depended on walking. Taking the river can also save land and reduce a lot of road construction costs, and it is clean and less dusty. There are large and small stones in the river, and the sediment gravel layer is hard and stable. When I walk, I crunch and bend like running water. I am tired and sleepy. You can find the right to rest everywhere, and you can also observe the dynamics of the upstream and downstream. You can pick up stones to defend yourself when you meet a gangster. I used to play in the river when I was a child, and I liked it best.

The river is not only convenient for people to walk, but also won't get lost. The village is near the river, almost connected. You can always ask someone for information. Perhaps the farthest from the village is Sanyu Village and Lion Mountain in Upper Zhang Duan. The river is the widest here, with rocky hills on both sides, and the river forms a big S-shaped Gankun bend, in the middle of the village and behind the shops. Historically, it used to be a haunt of wild animals and bandits. Walking alone will only increase a lot of psychological pressure. According to the village, when selling firewood and riding charcoal, you had to go through here to buy rice, oil and salt in Zhao Cheng. It is said that an old man in the village often buys things for the villagers. He was robbed many times and smashed bottles and cans. I don't know if it's true or not. In the 1980s, when I was studying in the county, I walked here many times together. Every time, everyone will pass quietly and skillfully. After all, the social security is much better now, but I may have heard more stories. Maybe this place has a formidable momentum.

Although the river is for people to walk, it is the road of water and the way of human survival. For thousands of years, rivers have continuously transported plant ash and other minerals and organics in the mountains, nourishing the land on both sides of the strait, enriching the farmland and feeding the people on both sides of the strait. Humans respect rivers more, which is what the ancients called the river god. People never divert river water to irrigate farmland or flood land in vast areas by building dams and canals, thus affecting the flow of rivers. Pick up stones and burn ashes in the river, build houses with silt, clean up the river, make it convenient for running water and people to walk, and take care of the river. The road leading to the river in Chen Gu Village has either a floor hole or a doorplate building. This is not only the embodiment of Mo Wen village style, but also the awe of the river god. This river does not affect well water. The ancients believed in geomantic omen, and there was wind and water in the river, which may have some truth. It is said that the rich Zhu believed this. In the west of the village, they built a Ge Dong following the example of Chencun people. Although it is idle, it still exists today. Gedong and the archway in Chencun disappeared as early as the middle of last century. I often think that this is one of the reasons for the retrogression of Mo Wen Village, and whether it is really Feng Shui or not, it has declined in terms of ideology, understanding of the civilization created by the ancients and awe of nature.

On the road of this river, there have been endless stories and legends, and there are many vigorous scenes. For example, the Xiakou Dam built in Chencun, the dam built at Hongzigoukou was changed to river reclamation (later river crossing), and the dam was built at the mouth of Shan Yu River (also failed) and so on. , are the miracles witnessed by our generation. In the second half of last century, people in my hometown spent a lot of effort on the river with their hands. However, the river still passes through the main road, and an iron works was built from Caojiagou (about 1960). The transportation of large machinery or the passage of vehicles basically enter the river from dike village and drive in the river. That is, after the reform and opening up, Xishan coal-fired power development, large and small coal mines are everywhere, and vehicles are constantly flowing. Although it moves slowly and causes great damage to mechanical wear, there are few accidents. I remember when I was a child, I used to sit on the mountain and watch the cars, counting the cars passing by the river, dreaming of getting on the bus one day. Fortunately, it was realized soon, but it was not sitting but crawling. When I was studying in the county seat, I had the opportunity to climb the car and walk instead of walking almost every time. Fortunately, I was young and agile, and the traffic was slow. As long as I see the cars in the river channel, I never miss them, unless the driver forces me to get off. Although I get covered in carbon black every time, I never tire of it. After all, I walked dozens of miles less, which is a little concern for my hometown classmates.

The development of coal industry has rapidly promoted the economic development on both sides of Wuyang River. Many people began to work, reducing their dependence on farmland. People live closer to the river bank, and a lot of beaches are occupied by houses. People no longer want to live higher, but live closer to the river and have convenient access. Especially the Zhao Ke Highway and Chenshui Highway built along the river, many dams, bridges and culverts have been built along the river. Gradually, no one walked along the river and no one cared. Subsequently, a large number of domestic industrial wastes were dumped, and factories and houses were built along the river, which made the river narrow, covered with vegetation, littered everywhere, cut off the river and abandoned the channels, completely changing the face of the river bed. Once in a few years, occasional floods always destroy some houses, factories, farmland and livestock. It has brought economic losses and even disasters to the people on both sides of the strait, but it is also difficult for people today to wake up. They don't know that the river is moaning, the river is shouting and the river is roaring. This is an appeal and madness to mankind!

Although people don't go, water will always go. You don't know when and how much water you have gone. As far as Chencun people can see, there has been the biggest flood. At the gate of Qingshuyuan under the village ridge, you can hook the firewood in the flood with a soldering iron. Think about it, the flood is two meters higher than the road under construction now, and people are by the river today. But it is only a tributary of Wuyang River, just for convenience and immediate benefit. Without a long-term plan, you will be punished by nature sooner or later. Whenever the rainy season comes, there are always many local cities suffering from floods and water shortages. People are complaining about unfairness and climate change, but they haven't thought about it. Many of them are man-made disasters. People really should wake up.

Human beings have entered the industrial civilization and network technology civilization from farming civilization. Over the years, I have often thought of this scene, which was the most beautiful and warmest morning when I walked along the Wuyang River. I often think that I can really restore the beautiful scenery of Wuyang River, so that my hometown people can enjoy the natural scenery of Wuyang River forever and embark on a prosperous and happy road!
