Xuanwei has a long history. Before the Qin Dynasty, it was under the jurisdiction of Gu Yelang. Counties were set up in the Western Han Dynasty, Mazhou in the Tang Dynasty and Yizhou in the Yuan Dynasty. On the establishment of Xuanwei House in Yizhou in the fifth year of Yongzheng in Qing Dynasty (1727). In the second year of the Republic of China (19 13), the state was divided into counties. On June 30th 1954, it was renamed Rongfeng County,1October 30th 1959, 165438 restored the name of Xuanwei County. 1February 1994 18 xuanwei county was abolished and Xuanwei city (county-level city) was established.
