Introduction of Baiyun Temple in Lanzhou

The forehead of the mountain gate is carved into clouds, and the wooden tablet of Baiyun Temple inscribed by Deng Baoshan hangs on the lintel. There are statues of Lv Dongbin in the view, including the East-West Wanghe Building, the Theater Building, the front, middle and backyard buildings, and the Yunshui Hall, the Bell and Drum Tower and Daoyuan on both sides. There are gardens, Eight Immortals Pavilion, Luxun Pavilion, Laixian Pavilion, Juxian Pavilion, Qunxian Building and other buildings in the back hall, which are antique and full of Taoist style.

Lanzhou is the only capital city in China where the Yellow River passes through the city. The city is surrounded by mountains and rivers, and the mountains are still and the water is moving, which adds a lot of aura to the whole city. Binhe Road, more than 50 kilometers east and west along the south bank of the Yellow River, is the only city in China. Baiyun Temple in Lanzhou is located on the beautiful Yellow River amorous feelings line, which is a combination of ancient buildings and immortal culture on the Lanzhou Baili Yellow River amorous feelings line, and enriches the amorous feelings along the Yellow River with its unique Taoist cultural heritage. This is a quaint and elegant scenic spot open to tourists. Approved by Lanzhou Municipal People's Government as a municipal key cultural relics protection unit. 1987 established Lanzhou Baiyun Temple Management Committee, which is now the seat of provincial and municipal Taoist associations.

Lanzhou Baiyun Temple was originally divided into upper view and lower view. Shangguan was originally located in Jishou Mountain, Cuijiaya, a suburb. It was completely demolished when the Lanzhou-Xinjiang Railway was built in the 1950s. What people now call Baiyun Temple, that is, Xiaguan, is far from the site of Jinguan Town, the famous Silk Road on the north bank of the Yellow River. A section of the Yellow River between them is choppy, which is the famous "White Horse Wave". The upper reaches of the Yellow River in Lanzhou are calm, but here are white waves, hence the name. According to legend, in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, Lv Zu appeared on the Yellow River, leaving an immortal trail called "White Horse Wave". People in Lanzhou built the Lvzu Temple. According to the records of Baiyun Temple, there is a saying that the temple was built in the west. The ancient trees of Baiyun Temple can also prove this statement. During the Daoguang period, Taoist believers of the squire in Lanzhou wrote to Hu Song, governor of Shaanxi and Gansu, asking for the expansion of Lv Zu Temple to "inhabit" the spirit of Lu Xianzhi. Hu Songge then asked Mr. Feng Shui to choose a site to build the temple, and chose "the northwest corner of the city, the river is wide, and the tree-digging palace", which is the location of Baiyun Temple today. Named "Baiyun Temple", dedicated to Lv Dongbin. Therefore, Baiyun Temple is also called Lv Zu Temple. Baiyun Temple was officially listed in the national sacrifice ceremony and became a large-scale and beautifully built Taoist ten-square jungle in Lanzhou in the Qing Dynasty. According to historical records, the original building of Baiyunguan is a building complex with a symmetrical central axis, which is composed of a mountain gate, an east-west tower, a theater and a front, middle and rear hall from north to south. On the east and west sides are Yunshuitang, Bell and Drum Tower and Daoyuan. After the opening of the temple, there are also beautifully structured Eight Immortals Pavilion, Natural and unrestrained Pavilion, Helu Pavilion, Juxian Pavilion and Zhaosi Pavilion. There are Juxian Building, Feixian Bridge, Laixian Xuan and other buildings, covering a total area of about 30 mu. After the vicissitudes of history, there are only three main halls in the whole Taoist temple, namely, the Bell and Drum Tower, the Theater, the East-West Attached Hall and the East-West Wing. Other buildings have disappeared in the years. Today, after reconstruction, Baiyun Temple is still full of antiques. As soon as I entered Baiyun Temple, I saw a three-character plaque inscribed by Deng Baoshan, a famous Gansu soldier. At the door of the house, "Climbing to the top of the cloud leads to enlightenment" is a brick factory with vigorous characters. The brick carvings of the Dragon Crane on both sides are quaint and vivid, and the environment is elegant. The pavilions, terraces, halls and pavilions in the view are patchwork, with overhanging eaves and corners, overlapping arches and corridors, towering ancient trees, shady trees and winding paths. There are front hall, middle hall, back hall, east-west annex hall, bell and drum tower, ancient theater, east-west wing room, and antique comprehensive building, zhaitang, single room, back door and other supporting facilities, with a total area of nearly 3300 square meters. On the ninth day of the first lunar month, Jade Emperor's Christmas Day, February 15 Laojun's Christmas Day, Tomb-Sweeping Day, July 15 Mid-Autumn Festival, and 10/Sunday Temple Fair. There is a grand activity of chanting, praying and crossing over in the temple. On the first and fifteenth day of the first lunar month, pilgrims come in an endless stream.
