What is the origin of Renmin South Road in Chengdu?

Renmin South Road was originally named Taiping Road. Some people think it is to commemorate the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. It is really "big face and tears-leaving the line and leaving the music (far)". There is no such thing. Yide Road is the south wall of Guangzhou in Qing Dynasty, Taiping Road is the west wall, and Zhuangyuanfang has an emergency exit. In the past, Xiguan was used to light candles (fires). Because of the dense human settlements, once it is burned, it is often a big fire, causing great losses to people's lives and property. Neighbors are convinced of the theory of geomantic omen and think that there is a copper street to the east of Xiguan. Most shops deal in copper, so it's better to change the street name. After several discussions, it was finally renamed Taiping Street. However, this name is not accepted by people. There are many shops in the street, such as Ginseng Village, Silver House and Silk Village. When the wire transfer trust was delivered, it was still named after Datong Street. Later, the west wall was leveled and the city foundation became a road. This road was officially named Taiping Road, which is now Renmin South Road.

The name Renmin Road was changed only during the Cultural Revolution. It is formed by the combination of Youyi Road, Liuhuahu East Road, Hu Chang Road, Chang Gung Road, Fengning Road and Taiping Road, running through the north and south. People's North (Section 1), Middle Road and South Road to the south of Jing Hui Road are the dividing lines between Yuexiu District and Liwan District, and were once one of the most prosperous areas in Guangzhou. From 65438 to 0958, the commercial outlets in Guangzhou were greatly adjusted, merged and cancelled, but Renmin South Road, as one of the three first-class commercial centers in the city, has been preserved and developed, and still maintains commercial characteristics such as department stores, restaurants, tourism and stationery. After the reform and opening up, Guangzhou's first underground shopping mall and the first pedestrian bridge appeared on Renmin South Road, showing its position as a commercial center.
