Historical records of Shi Ganniang

Mao Zedong's grandfather had three men and three women, and his eldest son, Wen Zhengxing (1853- 1920), had the word "jade end", ranking seventh, and he was also called the seventh uncle with Mao Zedong. The second son Wen (1859— 1929) was named, ranking eighth, and was called the eighth uncle. Uncle Ba opened a library at home to teach students, and the situation at home is not bad. Wenjia ancestral grave is located in Longyan Lake, which is less than one kilometer northwest of Shaoshan Chong Wuchang. There has been a mysterious feng shui legend circulating in Longyantang. In order to have a resting place on the grave every Spring Festival and Tomb-Sweeping Day, the Wen family betrothed seven girls who were only 13 years old to Mao Shunsheng who was 10 years old. After Wen Qimei got married, the third child gave birth to Mao Zedong, which was named by her eighth uncle. Ze is the word of several generations. The ancients used the southeast and northwest to correspond to the tertiary season. He is the eldest son, and it is most appropriate to choose "East", so the name has been decided. Some people say that this name is based on the meaning of "Ze Pei Cang Sheng, purple gas comes from the east", which is not necessarily accurate. 1938, Mao Zetan's wife and brother Zhou took refuge in Shaoshan and lived in Shangwuchang, writing this couplet for his former residence. Mao Zedong is already a famous figure at this time, and it seems that it is time to apply these eight words to Mao Zedong.

The first two sons born to Mao Zedong's mother died in infancy, fearing that the third Mao Zedong would suffer another accident, he deliberately changed his living environment and sent him to his family to take care of him. According to the local custom, he went to Longtan Island to worship "Shi Gan Niang" for Mao Zedong, and because Mao Zedong was the third child, he was nicknamed "Shi San", hoping it would bless Mao Zedong's life.
