Sichuan, originally from the south, why are all the people there in the northern dialect?

From the geographical position of China, Sichuan is located in the south of China, and Sichuan people are popular, so they are of course called southerners. China has a vast territory and rich natural resources. The dialects spoken by people living in the north are called northern dialects, that is, the dialects spoken by southerners are mostly called southern dialects. However, Sichuan dialect is an exception. People have always been used to attributing Sichuan dialect to northern dialect. In many theoretical studies, some scholars have refuted this view, but this phenomenon still exists. Why?

In fact, Sichuan dialect, although finally described as Sichuan, has a long history of development and has an unspeakable relationship with the north. Now the composition of Sichuan dialect inherits the languages of two ancient Bashu tribes. In the course of the development of ancient history, countless people poured into the north. From the cultural level, northerners play a much more important role than southerners in the final formation of Sichuan dialect.

Thousands of years ago, after Qin destroyed Bashu, many people in Shu began to move south and gradually merged with some ethnic minorities in southwest China. At that time, many northerners began to migrate to Bashu. Since then, many northern descendants have appeared in Sichuan. Of course, this is just one of the influences of northerners on Sichuan. Later, because Sichuan is a land of geomantic omen, in the future wars, different levels of immigrants also had a certain impact on the distribution of Sichuan population.

Later, Cao Wei wiped out Shu Han. As we all know, Ada and Liu Zhang are both from Jingzhou, but Liu Bei, the Emperor of Shu Han, is a northerner. When Liu Bei entered Sichuan, he took many civilian military commanders with him. Historically, this period is the peak of the influx of migrants into Sichuan. For a long time, people everywhere were in violent turmoil, and the population mobility in Sichuan was also very large. For example, the Qiang people once flowed into Sichuan.

Tang culture has a very important influence on the development of Shu and Han culture. As we know, many famous poets in the Tang Dynasty, such as Du Fu and Luo, all had experiences in Sichuan. At that time, these famous great poets of the Tang Dynasty also set off a wave of cultural upsurge in Sichuan. Until the Anshi Rebellion broke out, Li Longji, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, also took refuge in Sichuan. After that, more literati entered Sichuan, and the culture of Sichuan Province began to form a stable pattern.

Since then, most people in Sichuan Province have migrated from the north, but the geographical location of people's lives has changed, but their living habits and speaking habits have not changed. So over time, Sichuan Province has formed a unique Sichuan dialect, not Sichuan dialect, but also evolved from the northern dialect.

Therefore, from the geographical position of China, Sichuan is located in the land of abundance, which belongs to the typical southern landform, and it also breeds typical southerners. However, most of the ancestors of Sichuanese came from the north, and under the influence of their ancestors, their descendants also spoke typical northern dialects. So people speak Sichuan dialect, which is a northern dialect.
