The founder Ding Guo was a general in the late Ming Dynasty. He later abandoned the official position and established a sect. According to the Yili, the sect was named Lanqian Sect. The sect has always been practiced in a hidden way and is rarely known to outsiders. Mainly engaged in Taoist self-cultivation, martial arts, metaphysics, Zhouyi, merchants...mainly. In the past, some Feng Shui works were written by disciples of the sect, but some of them have been lost and some are retained within the sect. Due to historical and cultural changes, the main ones that have been passed down to this day are the Chinese Studies, Yili, and Metaphysics. In the later period, Patriarch Ding Guo and all his disciples moved from Dali, Yunnan to Shandong. During the Guangxu period, the disciple Shi Ran (Taoist) passed it on to the Northeast.
The sect inherits the character generation, and the last generation of every eight generations continues the character generation, Ding, Yi, Zi, Shan, Chen, Xi, Gu, Ming; Shi, Ran, Jing, Pin, Tian, ??Zi, Sheng , Yuan Dynasty, Tianyang is the thirteenth generation and the current inheritor.
