The Dadu River is located in the central and western part of Sichuan Province in the Republic of China. It has historically been regarded as the largest tributary of the Minjiang River, a tributary of the Yangtze River in China. The Dadu River originates from the southern foot of Goluo Mountain in the Animaqing Mountains in Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province.
Anshun Field is located on the south bank of the middle reaches of the Dadu River in southwest Sichuan Province, 11 kilometers away from Shimian County. It is the place where the famous military general Yi Wang Shi Dakai of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom led his entire army to annihilation. It is also the revolutionary commemoration site of the victory of the Red Army of Chinese Workers and Peasants in the battle of forcibly crossing the Dadu River.
The Dadu River Basin is an area highly prone to geological disasters in China, and 2,212 potential geological hazards have been discovered, mainly landslides and debris flows. Hydrological characteristics of the Dadu River:
The upper reaches of the basin has a plateau mountain climate with cold winters and cool summers, and little rainfall throughout the year. The annual precipitation is 500-750 mm, mainly snowfall. The snow cover period can last up to 5 months. The remaining areas have a monsoon climate, which is generally characterized by warm winters, hot summers, humid and rainy weather.
Socioeconomic:
The basin is rich in aquatic resources, with 105 species of fish in 16 families, with the carp family being the most dominant. Distinctive fish species include Dadu naked schizophrenia, long-bearded schizothorax, flat-mouthed schizothorax, bluestone crawler, etc. There was a natural spawning ground for copper fish at the mouth of the Dadu River.
