Topography of Pingyuan County: Pingyuan County is located in the first and second structural units of the earth and belongs to a part of the syncline of Liaoning, Hebei and Taiwan in North China. On the secondary structural unit, it is roughly zoned from the vicinity of Liutun Village in Tangsan Township to Fangsi Village in Fangsi Town, Yucheng City, with Linqing City on the west and Jiyang County on the east. The triangle extending from Liutun village to the northeast belongs to Chengning uplift area.
There are faults between districts. Some of these faults have been cut into the lower strata of Neogene, some have cut the boundary between Tertiary and Quaternary, and some have Cenozoic basalts along the faults. For example, Tertiary basalts exist in the northeast faults passing through Wang Miao Town, Qiancao Town and Wangfenglou Town, and in the south of Encheng Town and Wangdagua Town.
