Besides going to West Lake, the most worthwhile place to go is Xiang Lake, where you can go for outings. There are lakes and mountains there, and it has a somewhat natural flavor. There is also the indispensable teahouse in Jiangnan.
If you want to go there, you can take the bus like this:
1. Go to Yan'an Road Bus Center Station and take bus 515 (section) to the south gate of Hangzhou Paradise, walk back to the intersection, and then You can see it if you walk along the town of Venice.
2. Take 515 or 315 to Yan'an Road Bus Center Station to Hangzhou Xiaoshan Bus Center Station, then transfer to Xiaoshan Bus No. 16 to Xianghu Scenic Area.
Xianghu Lake has a long history and is rich in culture and natural resources. As early as the middle and early Neolithic Age, Kuahuqiao people were producing and living here. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, another large fleet of the Yue Kingdom fought here. After the Southern Song Dynasty, more than 20 temples and nunneries were built, including Pure Land Temple, Longxing Temple, and Xiangyun Temple, which have always been favored by Buddhists. Literati and poets from the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties fell in love with Xiang Lake. Not only did they travel together and leave hundreds of poems, but they also settled in houses, built libraries, and opened academies, creating an elegant and profound history and culture.
The strategic position of Xianghu Lake is very important. It is the key point for the Qiantang River to enter Vietnam, the beginning of the East Zhejiang Canal, and the entrance to the Shanyin Ancient Road. The royal families of all dynasties regarded Xiang Lake and the surrounding areas as fortresses and geomantic treasures, so there were constant traces and constant battles. From Wu Yue's battle at Baima Lake, Fan Li rejected Wu from Yue Wangcheng, "Qin Shihuang wanted to build a stone bridge to cross Zhejiang" (quoted from "Kuiji Local Chronicles" Volume 9 Xia Hou Zengxian's "Kuiji Geographical Chronicles"), Sun Ce of the Eastern Han Dynasty crossed the river to attack Wang Lang in Xiling, Wu Yue King Qian Xiang fought against Dong Chang in the west, King Kang Zhao Gou of the Southern Song Dynasty took refuge, Huizong's clothes and crown were buried in Mengshan, the emperor's relatives were buried in Yangqishan, Zhu Yuanzhang fought against the rebel general Zhang Shicheng in the county, Emperors Kangxi and Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty went south to the Yangtze River to Xiaoshan, until Sun Yat-sen , Mao Zedong to Xiaoshan, all occurred within the Xianghu Basin.
If you want a less upscale restaurant, if it’s a chain, then Grandma’s or something like that is pretty good. However, I strongly recommend the snack bars on the road from the Middle School Affiliated to Zhejiang University to Zhejiang Library, especially "Fengdu". The Hangzhou cuisine there is very authentic and reasonably priced. Once I went there with more than 10 classmates. For dinner, we only ate over 220 yuan, 13 dishes, and 3 bottles of drinks, which was pretty good. There is also a good Gaozu Shengjian (snack) at the east entrance of Gaoyin Street in Nanxiaobu Community (opposite Hangjiu Middle School) at the intersection of Wen'er Road and Jiaogong Road. You can eat well for 10 yuan per person. By the way, there are a lot of snack bars on Gaoyin Street, and there is also a food area in Qinghefang. ~~(It made me drool...)
