Versions of Su six niang in Past Dynasties

The block-printed edition is a collection of 11 editions, namely, six niang to the Moon, Lin Po Seeing six niang Say Illness, six niang Sending Meat to Save Spring, six niang Writing News, Peach Blossoms Leading Spring to Enter the Back Door, six niang Huichun, six niang Anesthetized Peach Blossoms, six niang Hanging himself after Spring and so on.

[Textual Research] The love story between Su six niang (a native of Lipu Village, Jieyang, Ming Dynasty) and his cousin Guo (a native of Xiqiao, Chaoyang) is widely circulated among Chaoshan people. There are many myths circulating among the people. At the latest, it has been developed into a drama and put on the stage in Wanli. At this time, it was considered to be a block print from the Wanli period, and the original block print was kept in the Institute of Oriental Culture, Tokyo University, Japan (see Five Kinds of Chaozhou Opera in the Ming Dynasty published by Cantonese). In the same year of Qing and Xian, Xie Chao, a famous Confucian in Jieyang, wrote a long poem "Song of Su six niang". Chaozhou Song Album includes "Chai Jin Luopa Collection" and "Su six niang Ancient Edition Whole Song". Its plot is similar to a play. Mr. Su from Lipu Village, Jieyang Battery District married the Guo family in Xiqiao and only gave birth to a daughter named six niang. I was sent to my grandmother's house since I was a child, and I fell in love with my cousin Guo and got engaged privately. Mr. Su invited Su, the village head of Lipu, to go to court with Chaozhou Fucheng, bribing Yang, the official's son of Raoping, to help him, and won the lawsuit. At one of the banquets, the patriarch betrothed six niang to Yang's son, Yang's touts. After returning to China, Anren refused to marry his only daughter to a distant place, and the members also broke off their marriage, so the wedding was postponed. Yang took the wet nurse to Jieyang to ask for relatives. The official prestige of the clan forced him to get engaged within three days. Taohua was ordered to report to Xiqiao. The night before the wedding, six niang's wedding date was just around the corner, and the peach blossom didn't return, so she didn't intend to delay, because she left a suicide note. Suicide by drowning in the river. When I came to the river, I suddenly met Peach Blossom and Ji Chun, so Peach Blossom turned to Du Bo for help and took a young couple to Du Bo's house for temporary shelter. Taohua and Mr. Su and Anren quarreled with Mr. Su and Yang on the grounds that they were forced to death. All the heads of families and Yang fled for their lives.

Textual research: Su six niang in He Yang's Peach Blossom House has been performing on the stage since Ming and Qing Dynasties. According to records, in the early 1950s, some manuscripts were circulated among the people, such as Stolen House in the Spring, Waiting at the Official Bridge, Handing Books and Peach Blossoms, Suspicion at the Door, and six niang's Private Service. Zhang Huayun and Yin Xie rearranged this edition according to the artist's dictation and old manuscripts. Su six niang and his cousin Guo, roommates, have long been in love. His father is an official, and he betrothed his daughter to litigation lawyer Yang. Six niang's mother doesn't want to love her distant daughter, but she can't break off her marriage. Yang was delayed by urging his relatives and took his wet nurse to visit relatives, so six niang was forced. In the dead of night, I jumped into the river. Fortunately, my handmaids Taohua and Ji Chun came. With the help of my husband, I finally got out of trouble and made a wish to fly together.
