Zhangjiajie belongs to Zhangjiajie landform in terms of landform characteristics. The development process of Zhangjiajie landform is complete, from terrace → Fangshan → stone wall → stone pillar → canyon, the evolution process is clear, and the development time factor is predictable. It has such natural attributes as systematicness, integrity, naturalness, rarity and typicality in sandstone landscape. 1992 was listed in the World Natural Heritage List by UNESCO, and was listed in the first batch of world geoparks in 2004. Zhangjiajie can be used as a typical place to study sandstone landforms.

On October 20 10, 165438 10, Zhangjiajie was recognized as a unique sandstone landform with distinctive features and huge scale. Any landform similar to the seasonal sandstone peak forest in Zhangjiajie can be collectively called "Zhangjiajie landform". Since then, "Zhangjiajie landform" has been recognized by international academic circles.
