As far as I know. It is recorded in the "Buddha's Legacy Sutra": The Master warned monks who practice the method of liberation from the worldly Brahma life not to sell and trade, to set up fields and houses, to raise people's slaves and animals, to plant any crops and all kinds of treasures, and not to cut down vegetation or dig soil. land. Hehe decoction and medicine can be used to predict good and bad luck, look up at the stars, push forward and backward, make calculations, and all of them are inappropriate. Eat at the right times, live a pure life, and do not interfere with worldly affairs. To achieve your mission, use magic elixirs to marry noble people. You should neither be affectionate nor conceited. You should keep your mind straight and seek salvation with righteous thoughts. You should not hide any flaws or show differences to confuse the public. You should make offerings in the four ways and be content with them. You should be willing to offer things and should not accumulate them.
But this is mainly to ask monks to practice wholeheartedly and escape from life and death. Therefore, this method should not include lay people at home.
Divination is mentioned in the "Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Divination Sutra" and "Surangama Sutra". This shows that divination does exist.
However, as a Buddhist. Why do we need divination when we already firmly believe in cause and effect? Seeking good fortune and avoiding misfortune is just to foresee and eliminate the immature blessings in advance, and to hide the bad karma that should be consumed in one's own storehouse. This is not the right way to eliminate disasters and seek blessings. Moreover, in the law of cause and effect, the seeds of good and evil grow bigger the longer they are buried. Why don't we save good fortune and eliminate bad retribution, but instead hide misfortune and eliminate good fortune?
Furthermore, most of the teachers and masters in the world are half-baked, and there are even liars among them. Why bother asking for it?
"Liao Fan's Four Trainings" also talks about fortune telling. I suggest you read it. very nice. It’s about numerology.
