During the Chongzhen period of the Ming Dynasty, Dong Qichang, the minister of rites, visited Yunnan and passed by Yuanling. He suffered from eye diseases and was treated by monks in the temple. He recovered quickly, so he wrote a plaque for longxing temple as a gift and hung it in front of the hall.
Wang Shouren, a great scholar, returned to Yuanling from Longchang, specially accepted the invitation of students from Chenzhou, taught "To Conscience" in the temple for a month, and left a poem on the wall of the temple: "When a stick is across the west of the lake, where can a monk seek intellectual rest?" The shadow of the pavilion sinks between the peaks in Yun Qi, and the river flows low in the sparse forest. Fireworks warm the rain, gulls and herons sing in spring. Good scenery and travel are not paid, but poetry is still left to old friends. "1937 10, Miao Kong, the host of the temple, invited a famous teacher from Nanyue to give lectures in the temple, which caused a sensation in Yuanling. After the lecture, four organizations were established, namely Yuanling Buddhist Association, Yuanling Buddhist Jushilin, Yuanling Buddhist Four-Way Institute and Yuanling Buddhist Yangming Primary School. The place where Wang Yangming gave lectures was later built by his students and later changed to Huxi Academy.
