Ouyang Xiu, who was praised by later generations as "the satrap of articles", was a literary giant in the middle of the Northern Song Dynasty, and was also the leader of the movement of advocating poetry innovation at that time, and was one of the eight masters in Tang and Song Dynasties.
In 148, Ouyang Xiu came to Yangzhou, where he served as the prefect and became the local chief executive.
Yangzhou is close to the Yangtze River, the sea, the canal and the flat terrain, which can be described as a Ma Pingchuan. However, there is a mound in the northwest suburb of Yangzhou city, which stands tall and independent and stands out from the crowd. The trees here are lush and the temples are magnificent, which has always been regarded as a treasure trove of geomantic omen by Yangzhou people. Yangzhou people even say that this mound is the remnant of Mount Emei in Sichuan, and that the "fifth spring in the world" on the mound is connected with the water in Sichuan, so this mound, which is only a few feet high, is called "Shugang".
daming temple on Shugang was founded between the Liu and Song Dynasties in the Southern Dynasties, with a history of more than 1,5 years. It is an ancient temple where monks became monks in Jian Zhen in the Tang Dynasty.
Ouyang Xiu hoped that "all the mountains in the south of the Yangtze River, if you can climb under this hall and in front of the arch fence", he built a "Pingshan Hall" in the middle peak of Shugang, which was used as a place for lectures and banquets, and once hosted a banquet for distinguished people in the hall.
