An ancient manor built in the middle of Ming Dynasty.
Who built Kang Million Manor? How did the name of this manor come from? In fact, "Kang Million" does not refer to a specific person, but to a family.
Kang Million's family business began in Ming Dynasty, and gradually flourished in the early Qing Dynasty, reaching its peak in its heyday, and gradually declined after Xianfeng.
Throughout the Kang family, from the sixth ancestor Kang Shaojing to the eighteenth generation Kang Lanting, it has been rich for more than 400 years 12 generations. In history, dozens of people such as Kang Dayong, Kang Daoping and Kang Hongyou were called "Kang Million", among which Kang Hongyou was the most representative.
So, why is Kang the most representative? This is because the origin of Kang Million is closely related to Kang Hongyou.
It is said that at the end of Guangxu, Empress Dowager Cixi and Emperor Guangxu both went to Henan. At that time, there was a famine in Henan, and the local magistrate was unable to receive two royal families, so he gave Kang Hong a lift.
Because Kang Hong _ didn't know whether Empress Dowager Cixi and Emperor Guangxu would go by water or land, he made two preparations. The first preparation is to build a palace in the East Blackstone Pass and open a pontoon bridge on the Luohe River.
The second-hand preparation is to build five dragon boats on the Luohe River in Gongxian County. In order to berth these five big ships, five wharves were specially built on the east bank of Beiluoshui in Nanyaowan Village, commonly known as Longyao.
Because of the flood in Luohe at that time, Cixi didn't go by water. Therefore, after arriving in Gongyi, Henan, the five dragon boats built did not play a huge role. Empress Dowager Cixi and Emperor Guangxu only spent one night in the palace built by Kang Hongyi.
Before leaving the next day, Kang Hongyou donated 22,000 pieces of silver to Cixi through the eunuch Li around Cixi. Empress Dowager Cixi was very happy to see the twenty-two thousand pieces of silver donated by Kang Hongyou. She immediately said, "I didn't know there were millionaires here." Therefore, the title of "Kang Million" was created by Kang Hongyou to please Empress Dowager Cixi, and later became famous because of Empress Dowager Cixi's golden mouth and jade words.
Although the title of "Kang Million" came from the late Qing Dynasty, Kang Million Manor was built in the middle of Ming Dynasty. In the initial construction process, a huge manor was built to reflect its identity.
The whole manor consists of 19, covering an area of about 240 mu. It is a magnificent building complex with solemn style, gorgeous elegance and collection of "ancient, large, elegant and beautiful". In the 17 and 18 centuries, it was even called the feudal fortress of the loess plateau in northern China.
Moreover, in the process of building this manor, buildings of the Ming Dynasty, such as Sigou and Zhanggou, were gradually formed, followed by buildings of the Qing Dynasty with different functions, such as Longwogou, Zhaishang main residential area, south yard, board house area, shop, breeding area, ancestral temple, wood factory, shipyard, Jinguzhai, and other auxiliary buildings, such as steles, archways and gardens, forming a patchwork of mountains.
