Hubei maple poplar is also known as mountain willow. Deciduous trees, trees up to 25m tall. The bark is gray and smooth, and the old trunk is fissured. Odd-numbered pinnate compound leaves, 15-30cm long, with round rachis, wingless and hairless leaves, 7-11 leaflets, oblong-lanceolate or oblong-obovate, 6-14cm long, 3-5cm wide, apex acuminate , the base is rounded and wedge-shaped, skewed, the leaf margins are serrated, dark green above, gray green below, and the vein axils are covered with stellate hairs. Male inflorescence 6~10cm. The inflorescence is raceme-shaped, 30-45cm long, and the wings on both sides of the nut are semicircular. The flowering period is from April to May, and the fruit ripening period is in August.
