Nanputuo 360-character tour guide

Dear group members, now we come to Nanputuo Temple, which is the most popular incense in Fujian Province. Located under the Five Old Front, with the central axis as the center, facing the mountain and facing the sea. The main buildings are the Temple of the King, the Hall of Great Compassion and the Pavilion of Scripture. Nanputuo Temple was founded in the Tang Dynasty, covering an area of more than 30,000 mu, with a history of 1200 years.

Now let's go in and have a look at some of its main buildings. This is the Temple of the Heavenly King, which was rebuilt in 1925. We see that its building structure is wood structure. The laughing Buddha Maitreya that we see now is a work of art. He was made with the unique "bodiless lacquerware" technology in Fujian Province. He first made his own clay body out of mud, and then painted thousands of beautiful pictures with gold lacquer. This kind of handicraft is not only beautiful and strong, but also not afraid of fire, so it is very popular with tourists. The Buddha predicted that he would inherit the Buddhism of Sakyamuni Buddha in 5.67 billion years, so people called him the future Buddha. This is the Four donkey kong, which was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution. This is a reconstructed golden body. Their duty is to protect the world. We see that their weapons and images are different. This is the king of the East and the king of the South. This is the king of the west, and this is the king of the north. The instruments they hold have different meanings: sword, front, metaphor for wind; Pipa, meaning timbre; Umbrella means rain; Dragon, with the meaning of Qinglong, means shun. "Good weather" and all the best, the country and the people are safe.

We saw one of the four heavenly kings hanging in the air. Do you know what this is about? There is a legend about this: Zhu Yuanzhang, the emperor of the Ming Dynasty, was born in a peasant family. When I was a child, my family was poor and often hungry, so I went to the temple to be a little novice monk and was responsible for cleaning. When he swept to the Temple of the King of Heaven, he saw that the horns of the four kings were not clean, so he asked the four kings to lift their feet. Because Zhu Yuanzhang is the only thrill, and the king is not good. As a result, after cleaning up, the little guy heard the bell for dinner, so he ignored what was in front of him. So as long as someone can order the four heavenly kings to put their feet back, who is the only thrill? This is just a little joke. Then let's take a look at the back. This is Wei Tuo, the God in the sky. He was once a member of Ba Shen, the king of growth in the South. It is said that when the Buddha was rubbing rocks, an evil spirit stole the Buddhist relics of Sakyamuni. Wei Tuo went through all the difficulties and chased it back. So now we see him wearing armor and holding a diamond pestle to protect the Buddha from evil spirits. Wei Tuo's different musical instruments show the system of this temple. If Wei Tuo's diamond pestle is on, it means that the temple is a descendant temple, and foreign monks are not open, so they can only eat two meals at most and can't stay overnight. If Wei Tuo's diamond pestle is placed across his arm, it means that the temple is composed of ten jungles, and monks can get free accommodation; If Wei Tuo rested her left hand on her hips and her right hand held the diamond pestle on her forehead, it meant that the temple should charge foreign monks appropriately. Nanputuo Temple was originally a ancestral temple, and the ground was King Kong in Wei Tuo. After changing to the ten-square jungle system, Vajrayana did not put it across his arm, but remained the same. According to the rules of the Shifang jungle, monks traveling in clouds can stay free.

We're going to the big yard paved with granite behind Tianwang Temple. The stone dike called "Cheng" in architecture is divided into bell tower and drum tower. "Morning bell and dusk drum" is a temple system, and bells ring every morning and evening. Hearing this bell can relieve people's 108 troubles. The Bell Tower is dedicated to the Bodhisattva Dizang, and the Drum Tower is dedicated to the Bodhisattva Galand.

We walked on the top of the mountain. This is the Hall of Ursa Major. Why is it called "Ursa Major"? That is a great respect for the Buddha. We saw this couplet in front of the door: "After the beginning of the Tang Dynasty, dawn increased from Xiamen Island to Wu Tai"; This couplet clearly shows the age and geographical location of this temple, which existed in the Tang Dynasty. It is said that the Chen family was the first to develop on the island. It was called Sizhou Courtyard in the Five Dynasties and Endless Rock in the early Song Dynasty. Later, it was changed to Zhao Pu Temple and Zhao Pu Courtyard. Because it is dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva together with Putuo Mountain in Zhejiang, it is located at the southern foot of Putuo Mountain, so it is called Nanputuo Temple. Daxiong Hall is basically granite, simple and dignified. It has the traditional architectural style of China, with flying eaves and flying grass dragons. It looks exquisite and dexterous, and it also incorporates Taoist thought. The Hall of the Great Hero is dedicated to three buddhas, with Sakyamuni Buddha in the middle, Pharmacist Buddha in the east and Amitabha Buddha in the west. Their rosettes are engraved with the biographies of Sakyamuni and the Buddhist stories of Tang Sanzang.

On both sides of Sakyamuni, Ye Jia, the venerable disciple, is in the east, Ananda, the venerable brother, in the west, and Guanyin is in front. The relationship between Guanyin Bodhisattva and the people can be said to be profound, and her legend has spread all over the world: (In ancient times, there was an old man who was old and was going blind, and it was useless to seek medical advice everywhere. Finally, he needs someone's eyes to guide him. As a result, neither his eldest daughter nor his second daughter wanted to use their eyes as medicine to attract his father to treat his eyes, while his youngest daughter did not hesitate to give her eyes in exchange for her father's light, which touched the whole world. Sakyamuni Buddha gave her thousands of eyes so that she could see all the sufferings in the world and protect the world with thousands of hands. There is also a wooden fish under the seat of Guanyin Bodhisattva, which is mainly used to refresh the monks when they recite 1 There are three Buddha statues behind the Hall of Great Heroes, which are called the "Three Sages of the West". Amitabha is in the middle, Guanyin Bodhisattva and Megatrend Bodhisattva are around.

What we are seeing now is the Great Hall of Compassion, which is one of the main buildings of this temple. The two bodhi trees in front of the temple are so clean that they don't even knot cobwebs. It was under the bodhi tree that Sakyamuni Buddha made a positive result. Dabeitang used to be a brick-wood structure, but it was burned down due to excessive incense on 1928. 1962 decoration, the theme was changed to reinforced concrete, and the bucket arch stack was kept load-free for decoration. The temple is 20 meters high, with triple cornices, cleverly decorated with colorful paintings and tight structure, which is called cobweb. Four avalokitesvara bodhisattvas are enshrined in the temple, with two-handed avalokitesvara on the front and 48-armed avalokitesvara on the other three sides. Each arm has different objects, representing different sad wishes. People often doubt the gender of Guanyin. Is it a man or a woman? The ingenious explanation of this couplet is: Bodhisattva has no orientation, and compassion is Guanyin. In fact, there were many famous artists who painted Guanyin in the Tang and Song Dynasties, but none of them painted female images. But after the Song Dynasty, Guanyin became a female body. Until the Ming Dynasty, it was probably because Guanyin had a "bodhisattva heart" that it was portrayed as a female image and passed down.

Finally, here is the Sutra Pavilion in the main hall, which was built at 1936. The building of this sutra depository is very distinctive and has the charm of combining Chinese and western. The upper floor is the rest peak, and the lower floor is the Buddhist temple. If you want to know more about Buddhism, you can go there.

Nanputuo Temple is also famous for the Minnan Buddhist College founded in 1925. Now the Buddhist College has become a key college for monk education.

Ok, the introduction of Nanputuo Temple is over. Thank you for your cooperation.
