Give full play to the advantages of electric vehicles and test drive Weilai ES8 from Beijing to Tianjin.

As a big fan of fuel cars and self-driving travel, I once dreamed of traveling around the world alone, with a car and a sword.

Later, it was found that the way of plane+landing car rental, regardless of cost or comfort, was much higher than driving thousands of kilometers. Looking around Beijing, the density of fast charging stations in highways and cities is even comparable to that of gas stations. When the battery life of electric vehicles is getting longer and longer, our car habits have quietly changed.

Weilai is such a brand. After many people have it, they will always be trapped in the "sea fishing" service. Of course, any car, any form of driving, has advantages and disadvantages, so it is better to make full use of the disadvantages. On this trip, I drove a brand new 2020? Weilai ES8 travels between Beijing and Tianjin, but for electric vehicles, it is found that it still has a good travel experience by appropriately changing the use ideas.

Of course, it still takes a long time to charge electric vehicles, and how to use them reasonably is the key. For example, in the charging station in my community, it is better to charge the battery slowly, and the vehicle can be "full of blood" when it wakes up. The "low-equipped" endurance version of this Weilai ES8, 4 15km, can basically meet the requirements of commuting for one week. This test drive, I drove the ES8 back and forth between Beijing and Tianjin, which is no challenge for most electric vehicles now. The charging stations along the expressway service area and Tianjin urban area are very dense. After eating a meal, the motivation can be improved by 60%-80%.

First of all, I will briefly introduce the new Weilai ES8.

In terms of appearance, in 2020, Weilai ES8 underwent a mid-term change, simplifying the family-style X-Bar design language, adding a brand-new chrome decoration to the body, and upgrading the front and rear turn signals to a streamlined effect. The length, width and height are 5022/ 1962/ 1756mm, respectively, and the wheelbase is 30 10mm, which is similar to Audi Q7, Volvo XC90 and other medium and large SUVs in size level positioning.

The rear of the car has remained basically unchanged, except that the orange line under the ES8 trailer symbolizes the identity of its iconic model. The only obvious changes are the high-position brake light strip extending at the top and the chrome-plated strip surrounding the tail.

The wheels of this model are a mix of carbon fiber and aluminum alloy, and the optional price is 26,500 yuan. It is said that the price of a single carbon fiber wheel hub is thousands, so be careful not to scratch the curb when parking. Is the tire MaxContact? Mc6,265/45 yards? R2 1 is a high-performance self-repairing tire with comfort and handling.

As for the interior of the ES8, it looks a bit like the boss's desk. Through the air conditioning outlet, the 9.8-inch instrument and the 1 1.3-inch large screen are more like two pads on the table. The materials, materials and details of the interior have completely reached the level of luxury cars.

The interior color of our test drive model is the newly added "speed gray", and the interior atmosphere is more fashionable and simple. Napa leather and microfiber ceiling used in this iconic model also make the luxury inside the car soar.

Weilai ES8 also made the Queen's co-pilot a standard. The electrically retractable leg rests and pedals are more like those in the business class of an airplane, but they don't take off and don't need to be put away.

The model we test-drive adopts 7-seat design, and there are also 6 seats to choose from. The second row has huge legroom, and the third row has enough usability. The overall performance is indeed worthy of the positioning of medium and large SUVs.

The new Weilai ES8 currently has 4 15km and 580km endurance configurations. If the charging conditions at home are convenient, the battery life of 4 15km is enough. Although it is theoretically possible to travel to and from Beijing and Tianjin, after all, the air conditioner should be turned on all the way, and many fast charging outlets can be found in the high-speed service area and Tianjin. After a night full of electricity, we started this trip to Tianjin.

Driving on the highway, you can feel that the ES8 is a medium and large SUV with excellent driving stability. Remember the test drive before ES6. When accelerating, I suddenly looked up and felt like a plane took off. However, the new Weilai ES8 seems to be stable. Even a 100-kilometer acceleration of 4.9s will not give you too obvious dizziness or push back, and it is obviously more considerate in taking care of comfort.

The texture of Weilai ES8 in chassis and steering is a bit like Volkswagen Touareg. The steering is very heavy and accurate, but it is not as sensitive as motion adjustment. The battery pack makes the whole vehicle have a low center of gravity and excellent high-speed stability. Although the steering roll is not big, when you turn sharply, the steering wheel will obviously become heavier, so turning is not sensitive, and it doesn't want to make too many drastic moves when you drive.

Regarding the power consumption of the whole vehicle, the remaining cruising range data when cruising at a speed below 80km/h is more accurate. However, our driving style was a little intense along the way. Due to the blocking of the local train, there were some frequent driving and braking. I turned on the air conditioner all the way and picked up a friend by a detour. In Tianjin, the remaining half of the cruising range of 4 15km is less than 50km, which is quite satisfactory.

Tianjin is a city I often come to, and the old buildings here always arouse my strong interest. In the Fifth Avenue area, this gothic Anrigan church is unique. Built in 1903, completed in ten years. And 1935 experienced a fire and will be rebuilt next year. Because all the priests in the church are British, it is also called "the English Church in Tianjin".

In front of the Century Bell roundabout of Tianjin Railway Station, the "Wan Guo Bridge" built in 1927 has become a must-see punch-in point for tourists. It is very similar to the Waibaidu Bridge that Yi Ping jumped off in the heavy rain, and it also witnessed many modern history of China.

According to legend, it was designed by the designer of the Eiffel Tower, and its lower part can be opened and closed, allowing large ships to pass through. This bridge once blocked the Japanese invasion and welcomed the People's Liberation Army to recover North China. Now, in the name of "jiefang bridge", we have witnessed the rapid development of Tianjin.

The south bank of jiefang bridge is called Jiefang North Road, which used to be "Oriental Wall Street". In the late Qing Dynasty, this land of geomantic omen was valued by financiers from all over the world. As a result, various styles of buildings have sprung up like mushrooms after rain, such as the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and France, where the corner of the Roman column has turned into an arc, which perfectly explains the romance of French design.

This Tianjin Post Museum is the former site of Tianjin Post Office. Historically, it was the headquarters of the Qing Customs Post Station, formerly known as Tianjin Customs Dialing Bureau. As the birthplace of modern postal services in China, the museum's cultural relics record many firsts in the history of Tianjin postal services: the first postal organization, the first postal regulations, the first postal route, the first postal tax rate table and the first set of stamps in China were born here.

The Wanghailou Church on the bank of Haihe River records the religious plan and the Boxer Movement in Tianjin. On the mottled wall, there are too many unforgettable historical events. After two burning and reconstruction, as well as the Tangshan earthquake, it stands here now, telling the past and vicissitudes.

After a stop-and-go in downtown Tianjin for a whole day, when I was about to return, the power was still 150 km. We originally planned to add some electricity to the expressway service area, but when we decided to fill our stomachs first, we found a fast charging station in the parking lot of the Pan Pacific Hotel opposite.

So, we had a delicious meal here. In 40 minutes, the cruising range of the vehicle has increased to 373 kilometers, which is close to full power, and it is more practical to return to Beijing. After filming the night scene of Tianjin, we set foot on the return trip, and the one-day tour of Tianjin ended successfully.

Judging from this test drive, the stability, quietness and excellent acceleration of the new Weilai ES8 at high speed have given me a great favor. A large area of leather interior, exquisite workmanship, but also worthy of their own luxury positioning. Of course, it is absolutely unnecessary for Weilai to provide services such as changing power stations, "one-click power supply" and valet charging for such a not-too-distant intercity use demand. And our attention is not focused on how much battery life it has left, but a new experience different from that of a fuel car.

I have also tested a lot of electric cars in recent years, and sometimes I feel that fuel cars are not "fragrant". Indeed, for professional reasons, hiking depends on airplanes, and my car has never traveled more than 300 kilometers in three years. An electric car can fully meet my personal needs.

Back to 10 years ago, it usually took more than one million seconds to accelerate 100 kilometers, but now it can be easily realized on many electric vehicles. At present, it is a bit reluctant for an electric car to take you thousands of miles a day, but it is not demanding of its perfection. It is more realistic to play its strengths and stay with the fuel truck for a long time.
