Guangzhou Forest of Steles, formerly known as Baiyun Temple, was founded in the Song Dynasty and is one of the ancient temples with a long history in Guangzhou. Unfortunately, it was destroyed in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. 1992, Guangzhou Forest of Steles was newly built by the municipal party committee, municipal government and municipal people's congress, and 1994 was opened to the public. "Guangzhou Forest of Steles" is a brand-new scenic spot and a gift from the municipal party committee, municipal government and municipal people's congress to Guangzhou citizens.
The total area of "Guangzhou Forest of Steles" is 1.6 million square meters, and nearly 300 steles are placed. It collected some celebrities, modern poets and calligraphers who praised Lingnan scenery, poems and calligraphy masterpieces of Yangcheng and Baiyun Mountain. In the form of indoor inscriptions, outdoor inscriptions and cliff carvings, it is integrated into gardens and natural scenery, showing the splendid culture of the Chinese nation. It is divided into three scenic spots, namely Mo Yan sculpture area, South Asia Hall and Xianhei Xuan.
