In my hometown, there is also a tower that only hometown people will be familiar with-the Gufeng Tower, which is located at the top of Deshan across the river from Changde City. It's just that its reputation has not been obvious for a long time. I think there must be a legendary story related to it that has been accepted and recognized by people.
It is said that the Gufeng Pagoda was built in the thirty-fifth year of the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (AD 167). It was originally named "Wenfeng Pagoda" (commonly known as Deshan Pagoda by the people), and set off from Bijia City (a historical site in Changde City) on the north bank of Yuanjiang River, symbolizing Changde's outstanding people and prosperous literature. Unfortunately, it was later destroyed by war. The existing Gufeng Tower was rebuilt in 1986 and completed in the spring of 1988. Because the tower site is located on the Gufeng Mountain in Deshan, it was renamed "Gufeng Tower", which is still in use today. After reconstruction, its tower is 32 meters high and 7 meters in diameter, with eight sides and seven levels, and its body is milky white. During the reconstruction, it was specially added with glazed yellow tiles, hung with bronze bells, built-in spiral stairs and external circular corridors. You can climb the stairs and look at the railing at the top of the tower, so you can have a panoramic view of the surrounding Yuanjiang River and the northern shore of the city. If it coincides with the dawn or sunset, hongxia reflects the tower shadow in the Yuanjiang River. Perhaps, you will feel the same as me: such a beautiful scenery must be a gift from heaven.
I remember that two years ago, when planning the construction of Deshan Gufeng Park in Changde Economic Development Zone, the Gufeng Pagoda, which had been baptized for 3 years, was once again renovated and tried to change it back to the old name of Wenfeng Pagoda. However, this move caused opposition from countless people in their hometown, and the matter was finally dropped. However, Gufeng Park is now completed and has become one of the good places for people in hometown and foreign tourists to relax and play.
It seems that in recent years, after the process of large-scale demolition and reconstruction, many cities have turned their attention to the cultural landscape with historical flavor, and spent a lot of money on rebuilding historical sites destroyed by war or man-made disasters. In my opinion, it is a very simple matter to repair and rebuild those historic buildings after they are damaged or collapsed. After all, as long as you have money! But some people in the city, for the sake of the future, have a wind of impatience and indifference, which vaguely has become the mainstream. If this trend gradually damages or collapses people's hearts, it is not a simple matter to repair and rebuild them.
Perhaps, the renewed appearance of the lonely peak tower indicates that people's hearts may also be renewed.
