In the third year of Yongzheng (1725, the anniversary of the marriage of Huang taiji and Xiao Zhuang 100), Sejong thought this place was auspicious because the country was rich and strong, the holy father had been ruling for a long time, and his descendants had multiplied, so he changed the temporary protection hall to Zhaoxiling. Construction started on the third day of February in the third year of Yongzheng, and Empress Xiaozhuang Wen was buried in the underground palace at the beginning of December of the same year. Zhaoling, the tomb of Emperor Taizong, the second founding monarch of the Qing Dynasty, is located about ten miles north of the ancient city of Shenyang (Shengjing), so it is also called "Beiling". The cemetery covers an area of 6,543,800 square meters. The layout of the building follows the mausoleum principle of "facing the front and sleeping behind", and it is divided into three parts from south to north: front, middle and back. The main buildings are all built on the central axis and symmetrically arranged on both sides, which are similar to the tombs of Ming emperors and have the characteristics of Manchu tombs.
Zhaoling is the mausoleum of Emperor Taizong, Huang Taiji and Wen Zhengji. Besides the Empress, Zhaoling is also home to many concubines and beautiful women, such as the imperial concubine of Linzhi Palace and Shu Fei of Zhenqing Palace. It is the most representative mausoleum in the early Qing Dynasty and one of the best preserved ancient imperial tombs in China. 1982, Zhaoling was announced by the State Council as the second batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
