Historical stories of Dehua County

During the Zhenyuan period of the Tang Dynasty, the imperial court analyzed Guiyi Township in Yongfu (Tai) County and established Guidechang. In the fourth year of Changxing in the later Tang Dynasty (933), King Yanjun of Fujian ordered Changchang to be promoted to the county and took the name "Guide". "Dehua", the word "hua" in its jurisdiction "Guihuali, Linghuali, Xinhuali" is named "Dehua County", which means "to transform the people with virtue". This county name has been used for thousands of years and has never been changed. .

With a good county name, there must also be a county town that protects and protects the people.

Legend has it that when Dehua County was about to choose the county seat, the people on the East Road and the people on the West Road had a fierce dispute.

The representative of Xilu said that the gods were obsessed with the beautiful scenery of Shangyang on Xilu, and the county seat should be located in Shangyang. He also described this evidence in detail: In the early days, the emperor sent the gods to transform into cow herders. Driving a large group of black cattle, they ran from west to east. The dust and mist they rolled up along the way turned into a gray dragon that covered the sky and earth, trying to divert the Yongxi River in Shangyong territory to flow eastward into the sea.

When Tianshen passed the season of rising ocean, he saw the beautiful scenery here and couldn't help but stop and admire it.

But after only staying for a while, the cattle ran away.

So the god asked a passer-by: "Have you seen the cattle passing by?" The passer-by pointed to the east and said: "Go to the top of the mountain where the sun rises.

"He With one finger, the dust and mist along the way dissipated, the rolling gray dragon immediately turned into a stone dragon, and the cattle turned into a mountain of stone cows. The god shook his head and sighed and said: "It's not worth three coins!" So Yongxi still flows westward. , the god stayed in Shangyong and became the guardian deity.

The representative from the East Road retorted: The people in Shangyong are against the will of God, so they will say that the cow has turned into stone, and the Yongxi stream will continue to flow west, and the people of the county will be unlucky.

However, Chanxi water has flowed eastward into the sea since ancient times, and the Daiyun Dragon Vein settled on Longxun Yang, forming a dragon and phoenix cave. The feng shui is strong and can accommodate the blessings of the whole county. It is a blessed place for the county seat.

The West Road representative was dissatisfied, saying that Shangyong was located between the two great mountains of Daiyun Nine Immortals, and had been favored by the gods. It was the birthplace of the county's dragon veins, and being the county seat would benefit the whole county.

The two parties could not settle the dispute, so they had to ask their superiors for a ruling.

During the discussion hosted by the boss, the Donglu representative said that Feng Shui is important to bones, and water quality is important, and the weight of the water should be used as the criterion.

West Road representatives agreed to use water to redefine the county seat.

The two parties agreed on their respective water collection locations, using the same measuring vessel to fill the water, and the same pole to weigh the water.

Under the supervision of his superiors, the result of the water weighing was that the water of Chanxi River was heavier than the water of Yongxi River. Therefore, Dehua designated Longxunyang as the county seat and established the local Shanye Temple as the county government seat.

In fact, there is a reason why Chanxi water is heavier.

It turns out that in order to win, the East Road representative fetched water from the agreed water-fetching location, got on the sedan chair, and secretly added three coins of salt on the road. This was exactly what the god said: "It's not worth three coins to tell the truth." money".

The county area, county name, and county seat were all determined, and the Dehua business began to flourish.

It is said that Liu Wenmin, the first county magistrate of Dehua in the Song Dynasty, wrote a couplet for "Dehua": "The wind of virtue makes the grass green, and the rain moistens the flowers red." The beautiful meaning of "turning people into human beings".

But at that time, Dehua County was rich in ceramics, but there were no literati.

Chen Banxian traveled to Dehua in the clouds and saw the two levels of water flowing eastward in front of the county government office. He said that the two levels of water should be changed into a T-shape.

Upon hearing this, Lin Cheng, a wealthy Yangmei family, immediately donated 500,000 yuan to buy the surrounding fields and build a stream. However, before the excavation was completed, a heavy rain fell suddenly one night, and the floods rushed straight into the unexcavated fields. As a result, they naturally merged and "became Dingxi overnight", so the creek in front of the Yamen of Dehua County was named Dingxi. Dingxi was established. Three of Dehua's sons, Chen Shiwen, Su Xiang and Lin Yangxiu, became Jinshi. Talents began to multiply from generation to generation.

So someone imitated the county magistrate Liu Wenmin and wrote a couplet, "White porcelain reflects the green grass, and raised children reflect the red flowers." This also adds to the characteristics of Dehua, the porcelain capital.
