The buildings in the ancient village are in a well-shaped plane layout, with seven streets and lanes in good order and rows of buildings. Each residential building covers an area of about 200 square meters, facing south, and there were 20 when it was first built. Its architectural style has typical Lingnan characteristics and high historical research and ornamental value, and it is listed as a historical and cultural protection zone in Guangzhou. The interior design of Julong Village is similar, and there are three screen doors in the hall. Many wood carvings on the screen have lost their color because of the change of time, but they have gained a trace of quaint charm. There are four on the left and right of the main hall, and five on the second floor. Some colorful windows have poems and quotations.
Julong Village, also known as Kuangjia Village, is located between Zhaohe Village, Longxi, Chongkou Street. There is a river at the entrance to the village. After the transformation, the ancient trees on both sides of the river bank are towering and the pastoral scenery is rich. The village covers an area of 5,200 square meters, with three rows of ancient houses. Walking in Gu Xiang Village, you can also see several "shell-consuming houses", which are supported by blue bricks and then built with shell-consuming walls. The scale is more magnificent than the "shell-consuming house" near the school, and the wall is higher, about two stories high, but the pillars of the shell-consuming house near the school are also made of shells.
The ancient houses here are similar to those in xiguan big house, where people are outstanding and famous for their geomantic treasures. It is said that there is Long Mai under the ancient village, hence its name. At that time, there were many celebrities in the village, including Guangzhou newspaper pioneer and Qing Dynasty Ministry of Education official Guang, Hong Kong and Macao famous "golden tycoon" Kuang Hengshi, and famous businessmen Kuang Mingjiao and Kuang. Their old home is still well preserved in ancient times.
Between Julong and Zhaocun, there is an academy called Mianzhou Academy, which is the largest academy in Chongwen 24 Township. Mianzhou Academy is a three-step ancestral temple-style building, surrounded by kapok. Every spring, when the red cotton is in full bloom, the academy will be surrounded by red flowers, which looks like a burning cloud from a distance. The scene is grand and spectacular, and the buildings in the village have been transformed into a new look. Those who are interested can visit here.
