In the ancient Feng Shui book "Xue Xin Fu" it is said: If the sun does not grow, the yin will not grow.
Yin and Yang are not isolated and static, but have a relationship of relative dependence, growth and decline, and transformation. The description is as follows:
(1) The relativity of Yin and Yang: Yin and Yang describe the two attributes of things, representing two aspects of contradictory opposition and unity. It is a summary of the opposite sides of interconnected things and phenomena in nature. For example, the sky is yang and the earth is yin; the day is yang and the night is yin; the top is yang and the bottom is yin; heat is yang and cold is yin; yang electricity and yin electricity, etc. And so on, it shows that no matter everything, there are opposites in the universe. However, the yin and yang attributes of things are not absolute, but relative, and must be determined according to the conditions of mutual comparison. As far as the human body is concerned, the body surface is yang and the internal organs are yin; as far as the internal organs are concerned, the six internal organs are yang and the five internal organs are yin; as far as the five internal organs are concerned, the heart and lungs are yang at the top, and the liver and kidney are yin at the bottom; as far as the kidneys are concerned, the kidneys are The "essence" stored in the body is yin, and the "fire of life gate" in the kidneys is yang. It can be seen that the yin and yang attributes of things are relative.
(2) The mutual root of yin and yang: Ancient medical scientists called it "the mutual root of yin and yang". In traditional Chinese medicine, there are arguments such as "yang is rooted in yin, and yin is rooted in yang," "yin cannot grow alone, and yang cannot grow alone" and "yin cannot grow without yang, and yang cannot transform without yin." This means that yang is dependent on yin, and yin is dependent on yang. There is a relationship of mutual support and interdependence between them - that is, any yang side or yin side cannot exist alone without the other side. In terms of nature, the outside is yang and the inside is yin; the top is yang and the bottom is yin. The day is yang and the night is yin. If there is no upper, outer, and day, then there is no way to explain the lower, inner, and night. In terms of human physiology, functional activities belong to Yang, and nutrients (body fluid, essence and blood, etc.) belong to Yin. Various nutrients are the material basis for functional activities. With sufficient nutrients, functional activities will be vigorous. On the other hand, the source of nutrients is absorbed through the functional activities of the internal organs.
The above shows that the two are dependent on each other, survival and harmony. If there is no Yin, there is no Yang. If there is yin but no yang, or yang but no yin, then it is bound to be like what the "Nei Jing" says: "A solitary yang does not arise, a solitary yin does not grow." Then everything will become still and extinct.
(3) The waxing and waning of yin and yang: refers to the fact that yin and yang are eternally moving and changing on the basis of mutual opposition, and the phenomena of "yin waning and yang growing" and "yang waning and yin growing" constantly occur. This is the process of movement, development and change of all things. For example: climate change in the four seasons, from winter to spring to summer, gradually changes from cold to hot, which is a process of "yin disappears and yang grows"; from summer to autumn to winter, from hot to cold gradually, it is another process of "yang disappears and yin grows" process. Due to the ebb and flow of yin and yang in the climate of the four seasons, there are changes in hot and cold temperatures. All things can grow and be collected. If the climate loses its normality and undergoes abnormal changes, disasters will occur.
In clinical practice, different clinical syndromes are often explained by the excess of yin and yang and the decline of yin and yang (ie, the increase and decrease of yin and yang). For example, if cold belongs to yin, if yin is excessive, cold syndrome will be seen, such as stomach cold, abdominal pain, diarrhea, etc. after being cold; if heat is yang, if yang is excessive, heat syndrome will be seen, such as general acute pneumonia, high fever, thirst, and red skin. and other symptoms of acute fever. The pathogenesis of some debilitating diseases is not due to the excess of yin or yang, but to the deficiency. If the yin of a certain organ is deficient, it is called "yin deficiency". This is the disappearance of yin and the relative prominence of "yang". Because heat belongs to yang, heat syndrome is seen in yin deficiency. This phenomenon is called "deficient heat". If the yang of a certain organ is deficient, the yang disappears, which is called "yang deficiency". At this time, "yin" is relatively prominent. Because cold belongs to yang, so yang deficiency shows cold symptoms. This phenomenon is called "deficiency and cold".
Under normal circumstances, yin and yang are always in relative balance. If the "growth and decline" relationship exceeds a certain limit and cannot maintain a relative balance, one aspect of yin and yang will be partial to strong and partial to weak, resulting in occurrence of disease.
(4) Transformation of yin and yang: refers to the same yin and yang. Under certain conditions, when it develops to a certain stage, both sides can transform into their opposite aspects, and yin can be transformed into yang. Yang can be turned into yin, which is called "yin-yang transformation".
If the "ebb and flow of yin and yang" is a process of quantitative change, then transformation is a process of qualitative change. "Su Wen" states that "a heavy yin must be yang, a heavy yang must be yin", "extreme cold produces heat", "extreme heat produces cold". When the cold is "extremely", it is possible to transform into the direction of heat; when the heat is "extremely", it is possible to transform into the direction of cold. For example, in some acute febrile diseases, due to the extremely severe evil heat, which consumes a lot of the body's healthy energy, in the case of sustained high fever, there may be a sudden drop in body temperature, cold limbs, weak pulse, etc., a type of yin-cold crisis. This disease Change is from yang to yin. If the rescue is timely and handled properly, the righteousness will be restored, the limbs will become warm, the color and pulse will become harmonious, the yang will be restored, and the condition will improve from yin to yang. In addition, various common clinical changes in disease syndromes, such as from excess to deficiency, from deficiency to excess, from the outside to the inside, and from the inside out, are also examples of the transformation of yin and yang.

The relationship between the universality of contradiction and the particularity of contradiction is the relationship between the extreme nature of contradiction and individuality. Its essence is that contradiction exists in all processes and runs through all processes. Contradiction is movement, things, processes, and thoughts. To deny the contradiction of things is to deny everything. This is a very common truth, and it is no exception at all times and in all countries.
Identity, unity, consistency, interpenetration, interpenetration, interdependence (or dependence), interconnection or mutual cooperation, these different nouns all have the same meaning, and they refer to the following two Situation: first, the two aspects of every contradiction in the development process of things, each takes the opposite aspect as the premise of its existence, and both parties are in a unity; second, the contradictory sides , according to certain conditions, each transforms into its opposite aspect. These are called identities.
Contradictory aspects cannot exist in isolation. If there is no contradictory party opposing it, its own side will lose the conditions for its existence.
All contradictory things are related to each other. Not only do they exist in a unity under certain conditions, but they also transform into each other under certain conditions. This is the full meaning of the identity of contradictions. .
