Speaking of Doulv Temple, many people may not understand it. It is really small. Located in Cross Ridge, Pukou District, Nanjing, near Laoshan Forest Park and Pearl Spring Park.
In fact, if you search the Doulv Temple on the Internet, you will find that there are many places called Doulv Temple all over the country, but the most famous one is the one in Nanjing Laoshan.
People often use "480 temples in the Southern Dynasties" to describe the number of temples in Nanjing, but Doulv Temple was not built in the Southern Dynasties, but in the late Ming Dynasty, so it has a history of nearly 400 years.
The founder of Doulv Temple is Zheng Pin, the son of Jiangpu University in Ming Dynasty. When Zheng was young, influenced by his father Zheng Pin, he liked to study Neo-Confucianism.
In middle age, because of dissatisfaction with state affairs, he was cut from his post and became a monk. The world calls him the Bai 'an monk. He founded Shiziling Dojo, which was later renamed Doulv Temple.
Why is it called pocket rate? The word "pocket rate" comes from Buddhist scriptures, which means contentment, that is, people should be satisfied.
Lion Ridge, where Doulv Temple is located, doesn't sound so good? But there are actually many here. According to legend, the Tibetan Bodhisattva once sat near here all night. As a result, the stone in the back hill suddenly emerged from the ground and looked like a lion, hence the name Shiling.
Shiziling is not high, only 363 meters above sea level. Of course, there are no mountains in Nanjing. The highest mountain is Toutuoling Park Park in Nanjing Purple Mountain, with an altitude of 425 meters.
Maybe everyone sounds fantastic, and it's definitely not true, but when you think about it, what Liu Yuxi said is that mountains are not high and immortals are spiritual is actually very reasonable.
On the way up the mountain from the mountain gate, you will see many tea gardens, about tens of acres. The simplicity, nourishing nature and heart of tea have long been the spiritual connotation respected by monks, so where there are temples, there are tea mountains. Shiziling tea has a long history and is quite famous.
When I arrived at the parking lot, the first thing I saw was the king's temple. Usually, Maitreya is enshrined in front of the King's Temple, with Wei Tuo Bodhisattva behind and four heavenly kings around. However, taking me to the temple of the king is not what everyone imagined. When I entered the door, it was not Maitreya, but Maitreya, but he was another image of Maitreya, so it was different from the Maitreya I usually saw.

Walking out of the Heavenly King Hall is the release pool, and behind the release pool is the Hall of the Great Hero.
Sakyamuni temple
Doulv Temple was converted into a temple in Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty. At that time, there were no walls, gates and halls, only Buddhist scriptures as the main building facilities, which were actually rare in temples all over the country.
The temple really reached its peak in the early years of the Republic of China. There were about 100 to 10 monks in the temple at that time.
Before arriving in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, there were about 104 temple buildings. During the "Cultural Revolution", Doulv Temple also existed in name only, with no monks or incense.
After 1978, the Doulv Temple began to be rebuilt and various buildings were completed one after another.
Out of the Ursa Mahayana Hall and up the steps, it is the Galatians Hall, where Guan Yu, the god of Galatians, is enshrined. Speaking of Guan Yu, friends who have seen the Romance of the Three Kingdoms should be no strangers. Maybe other buddhas and gods belong to either Buddhism or Taoism, but Guan Yu is different. He is Garan in Buddhism, Guan Shengdi in Taoism and Wu Sheng in Confucianism.
There were 65,438+08 Garan gods in ancient India, which were equivalent to the land gods in temples. Guan Yu is the most famous galactic god in China. It is said that after Guan Yu was beheaded, he had a dream for Master Putin in dangyang yuquan temple, Hubei Province, and kept saying: Give me your head, give me your head. The master said: You passed five levels and killed six generals. Who do these people want back? Guan Yu suddenly realized that he converted to Buddhism and became the patron saint of the temple-the God of Mission Hills.

The potbellied Maitreya Buddha is enshrined in the Guanyin Hall.
On the left are Pu Xian Hall and Manjusri Hall. The foundation stones of these two halls are said to be the original objects of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and the stone components of many ancient temples are scattered in the yard.
What you see on the left is the ancestral hall. Here is a special introduction. This is dedicated to Master Yuan Lin. If you come to the temple and are recommended by others, then he will definitely tell you the story of Master Yuan Lin. Master Lin Yuan was born in 19 16. He is also known as a monk in the mountains. He has been the abbot of the temple since the 1980s. For a long time, he has been constantly repairing and renovating the ancient buildings of Doulv Temple.
Under his leadership, the buildings we see today, such as Shanmen, Tianwang Temple and Sanmiao, came into being.
Master Yuan Lin is good at painting and calligraphy, especially Buddhist figures. June 5438 +2003 10, Shanghai Pictorial Publishing House also published the Collection of Paintings and Calligraphy of Mountain Monk Yuan Lin. Master Yuan Lin's calligraphy and painting can be seen in many places in the temple, and even the Buddha statues in some temples were carved by Master Yuan Lin himself.
On May 6th, 2008, at 2 1: 40, Master Yuan Lin died peacefully in the temple at the age of 93.
It was also after the death of Master Yuan Lin in 2008 that the temple was abandoned.
On the right is the Lohan Hall, dedicated to Lohan.
There are many such temples in the temple. Compared with many temples with large scenic spots, Doulv Temple is not gorgeous or magnificent, but it reveals the simplicity of the countryside. Although you can't hear Sanskrit, you don't need to keep chanting "Amitabha", but it can make people unconsciously calm down and settle down.
When you get to Compassion Hall, turn right and go out, and you can reach the Three Temples.
Behind the third temple is a study. There are bunk beds in the temple, which can be used, but it is estimated that most people may not be able to live because the environment is not very good and it is not convenient to take a shower and wash clothes. Therefore, many people on the Internet commented that meditation usually doesn't stay here for a few days.
This is another door of the temple. After arriving at the temple, I saw two roads, one on the left and the other on the right. On the left is the parking lot, behind it is the Tianwangtang, and the other door on the right is this door.
Outside the door.
Outside the door.
There is also a mountain road in the backyard to reach the Daci Tower, which is built on the top of the mountain. This is a seven-story hollow tower, which is made of concrete and masonry. There is a Buddha statue in the tower. However, it is a bit difficult to climb the slope, and time is limited. I didn't go up and test it myself, so I can't express my personal feelings. If interested friends can go up.
Matters needing attention
1, friends traveling on the road must not park their cars in the parking lot below, but drive up the mountain through the mountain gate. Because there are still several kilometers past the mountain gate, walking will be very tiring, except for friends who like hiking.
2. After entering the mountain gate, the driveway will be very narrow, almost all of which are slopes. A car generally doesn't matter, but you need to avoid it when getting on and off, so please pay attention to safety.
After arriving at the temple, there is a slope on the left and right. Please go left, this is the entrance to the temple. The parking lot is the entrance to the temple. There are generally not many cars, so it is no problem to park more than a dozen.
