Rongjiang, formerly known as Guzhou, is one of the 800 states in the south of the Yangtze River, belonging to Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture. Located in the center of the border of Hunan, Guizhou and Guangxi provinces, it is adjacent to Liping County and congjiang county in the east, Leishan County and Sandu County in the west, Jianhe County in the north and Libo County in the south. Since ancient times, it has been known as "the key in southeastern Guizhou, the first important place in Miaojiang". The county covers a total area of 33/kloc-0.5,8 square kilometers, governs 6 towns,/kloc-0.3 townships and 268 administrative villages, with a total population of 350,000, including 290,000 Dong, Miao, Shui and Yao, accounting for 85% and/kloc-0.4% of the total population respectively.

Rongjiang, with mild climate and abundant rainfall, is the "Priority Tourism Development Zone in Guizhou Province", "Old Red Revolutionary Area" and "Gymnastics Hometown in Guizhou Province". There are ancient buildings in the county town, such as the former site of the military department of the Seventh Army, the Zhentai Yamen, the Hall of the Two Lakes, the Fujian Hall, and the only Miaowang Temple in the world. Rongjiang Temple Shandong Water Scenic Area is listed as a national scenic spot. Rongjiang County has four A-level ethnic villages and 133 cultural relics, which has a unique ethnic customs and folk art and enjoys the reputation of "rich customs, rich jade and rich gold, no trace and no antiquity".
