Q: What are the characteristics of rich birds?

The rich bird, also known as the silky starling, is a grey and black-and-white starling with a slightly larger body (24 cm). Its morphological characteristics include red beak, dark wing tail, obvious white spots in primary flight feathers, nearly white silky feathers on the head and gray upper body. The iris of a rich bird is black, its mouth is red, its mouth is black and its feet are dark orange. Its cry was not recorded.

Rich birds are widely distributed, including China, Viet Nam and the Philippines. In China, most parts of South China and Southeast China include Taiwan Province Province and Hainan Island, and are scattered to northern Vietnam and the Philippines in winter. They often live in farmland and orchards, even up to 800 meters above sea level. Rich birds will integrate large groups when they migrate.

Fu Gui birds are common endemic birds in China, belonging to Hainan migratory birds and some resident birds. They often move and feed in areas where people live, such as farmland and villages. However, in recent years, the distribution area and population number of rich birds have decreased significantly. This may be related to the pollution of pesticides to the environment, artificial capture and sale as captive ornamental birds.

Please note that it is everyone's responsibility to protect the rich birds. Watching and protecting them should be part of our respect for nature and ecological balance.
