Because five stars are the five major planets observed by ancient China people with naked eyes for a long time. These five planets were originally called Chen Xing, Taibai, Huo Ying, Suixing, Zhenxing (or Complementary Stars), and later they were named with the concept of five elements, corresponding to Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn respectively. Their order is to arrange the sun from near to far.
